How do you blend your paths with your cobblestones?

Do you cover your cobblestones entirely?
Or do you just try and line them up with your path?
Do you add waterways as a border?

i blend the edges, but i keep the majority of the cobblestone in tact.

my sister covered her entire town in a fake grass pattern and it looked pretty bad, but you could hardly see the cobblestone in the plaza since the tree is square.

I tend to line the cobblestone areas with a waterway/moat kinda deal.

I see pictures of people that cover their entire spots, but I'm a perfectionist and having the blank spots in front of doors and being erased when special characters set up in the town square would drive me crazy.

What does that mean? When specials set in town square, the blank spots get erased?

I don't like that we can't put patterns on the door spots.

Do you mean that there is a blank spot in front of the psychic's tent, for example?

Villagers and houses also have blank spots, so how do you deal with that??

Do you just avoid putting paths directly up to the door?
