How do I know if a villager has left my queue?

Today, I accidentally TTed Marshal into boxes. Luckily! My friend is able to hold onto him until I cycle 16 villagers out. I'm terrible at keeping track, but I can still do it. But does the game make it apparent if the villager is no longer in my queue? For instance, do they start roaming around the market place, or does that mean they're still in the queue. I'd also like to know the quickest way to cycle villagers without endangering my dreamies.

The best way is to keep track yourself. They show up on main street showing you still have aways to go. I think once they stop showing up on main street 100%, that's when you know they're gone.

If they start roaming, you're at 4-5. If you lost track after that, I don't know what to do either. Once you've cycled 16, they'll abruptly stop appearing on Main St. The fastest way is either using a new character, talking to the unwanteds once, and the dreamies twice, or TTing day by day. The former has the theory that if you talk to them once, they'll be considered "unwanted", and leave, but talking to them twice puts them on a so-called "friendship ladder", which is hard to get out of, which is great considering you don't want them to anyway. However, the theory has not been fully proven. The latter is to talk to one villager (a dreamie) 10-20 times a day, and see if they mention if anyone is considering moving. If nothing happens, move to the net day, and if they do bring it up, either talk the villager out of it, or if you dislike them, ignore them, and that's +1 to getting Marshal back. While this has been proven it is significantly slower than the new character method.
