How do I keep QR Code Paths that I may want to use again?

I had codes to make water around my fountains, and then I got some codes for some general paths and it switched the water QR codes to the exact codes for the paths in the spaces they were in? Is there a convenient way, if any, to just store and save many and it won't replace with existing ones already out in your village?

Mabel has an option to save patterns so you use them again

You can't ever change up your QR codes if you want them to stay the way they are. Any change will replace the current patterns. The only way around this is to get more spaces by making more characters.

Edit: I guess I should clarify. You can save patterns with Mabel, but nothing in her storage affects any patterns in town. If you throw some patterns in there, delete them from your current inventory, and replace them with new ones, the new ones will be displayed.

As Sonatina said, you have to unlock the QR reader through secondary characters in order to store more patterns. It's really inconvenient, but shouldn't be too annoying if you already time-travel.
