So I played NL for a long time. When I first started the game, I didn't know there were other options for maps. I figured the first one Rover showed you was your map. Eventually I got all my dream villagers, and even started laying paths and collecting stuff to decorate and what not. But I came to the realization that my map was a pain. It had tons of rocks, more ponds than I liked, etc. but this was my first AC game so I didn't know anything lol. Eventually I ended up deleting my town to restart, and after that nothing has been the same. For some reason I really really miss my first map. Even though all my villagers cluttered their houses around mine. It was just very special to me. Now I keep restarting hoping it'll have that feeling again, but it never does. So I haven't been able to play NL in so long because I felt like I lost interest after deleting my first town. What did you do when you lost interest to get you back into playing? I've been depression and anxious lately and NL was my slight get away.

To be honest, I lost interest over the summer and had my games 'paused' (so to speak) and didn't play for 2-3 months. I just started picking it back up a week or so before Halloween. I just had no desire to play at all. Then Happy Home Designer came out, and after playing it for a couple hours, I started to really miss NL and hopped back on it. I hardly play HHD anymore, maybe I'll do one house every day or two. I've also been going through a really hard time and playing New Leaf and maintaining my main town and building up my second town has helped me cope just a bit better.

You can also try playing other games in the meantime until you feel like it again. If you feel forced to keep up with your town you'll end up resenting it.

That's sort of sad. I also find this game a good way to relax.

I am not sure what to recommend you to do. You could take a break for a while and then see if you regain interest. I did that.

Can you look for a map like your old one? I don't know how hard that would be to find, or how many there are available.

Thanks guys.
I did think about trying to find a map like my old one. I feel like it was kind of one of those things where it was the first map so it held a special place in my heart. But it might be difficult seeing as they only give you 4 and then you have to reset to find more. Haha.
I just love the game so much. I was hoping a new AC would come
Out for WiiU or even 3DS again. Maybe a new one would hold my interest again.

I understand that feel about your first map. I was just thinking today how if some of my favorite original villagers moved out I'd probably cry and never play again. (I'm such an adult lol) So I totally get the attachment. I didn't know you could choose different maps when I started, but thankfully I discovered it only a month into the game so I wasn't too bummed. Plus my reset gave me a new villager to love that I got with the map so I was happy. Who knows, maybe if you reset your town you'll find new villagers to love.

Happy Home Designer. I got that game not long after it came out. HHD is fun, but it's not a full AC game. It's only decorating houses. So it made me start playing NL again last week.

I stopped playing after a while in spring, like 2 months and eager to go back just to find out how's my villy doing, who's moved out and who's moving in. and i was lucky because all my favorites stayed :D

I was having a really hard time this summer, and got back into Animal Crossing after being mostly inactive for six months as a way to cope. ^^" It's very relaxing to play, and keeps my mind off stuff. c:

I'm 20 years old and I have attachment to pixel villagers and I'm okay with it. Lol.

But yeah, I had cookie and Beau and so many others I loved. Rudy. <3
I don't think it will be too hard to really get the villagers I want again, because people are always cycling and selling.

Honestly it's because I got a 3DS XL years after putting down my DS. Just needed something to take my mind off of a consuming job once in a while and relive some of my childhood.

That's another thing that I think stopped me from playing was my change in job. I used to have a job where my schedule was pretty set. I worked the same hours everyday, but worked different days every week. So I always knew when I would have time to play for the most part. Then I quit that job and moved onto a serving job and my hours were crazy. Sometimes I would work at 10am, 11am, 11:30am, 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm. And I never knew when I would get off. If I worked mornings I would get off anywhere between 2pm-6pm depending on how busy it was. If I worked nights, anywhere between 9pm-2am. Now I'm unemployed, but going back to my job at the restaurant where I'll finally have a set schedule of M-F 9am-4pm every day. So having a set schedule again might help me have time to play more.

I've only got two games for my 3ds, beat Pokemon x and collected the legendarys. My wii is in it's box (beat all those games) and I've got nothing new for my ps3 (I need to upgrade anyway lol) nothing I like playing on my Bros Xbox 1 and my dad only has Madden for his ps4. I felt like playing a game and Animal Crossing was basically my only shot, got right back into it again :D I could have chosen to play city folk or population growing, but that would involve dehooking my Playstation and hooking up my wii and as for my good old GameCube... I think I lost it. Can't find it anywhere (good thing you can play GameCube games on the wii lol). I also found out Wild World is incompatible with the 3ds. Which is weird cause I popped in an old Naruto game I had for my DS Lite and started playing just fine. That really sucks, I wanted to feel the nostalgia D:

I think it's easy to get bored once your town is finished. When you have all of the shops on Main Street, all the PWPs you want, landscaping is done, your house is finished, you own everything (or at least everything you want) and you've completed your encyclopedia - what's left? You either just check in for a few minutes a day to talk to the villagers or you stop playing. That's kind of where I am with Pripyat, although I enjoy checking in. I have no desire to change anything. I will let villagers move out and in, though, to keep it interesting. I have a second town that I keep restarting and I think that's the real reason I don't get bored. I have to go back and forth between towns to shop, transfer Bells and other items, use Shampoodle... If I still only had one copy of ACNL, I probably would have put it away by now...at least for a few months.

WW is compatible with the 3DS. I currently play my WW cartridge on one.... :S

To the OP. It sounds like you're regretting deleting your town in a big way. As hard as it is, try to give a new map a go. Get something totally different and then play that for at least two weeks and see how you feel. If after that point you still can't shake the feeling, then rinse and repeat. Because this game is a slow starter I feel like sometimes people don't give new towns a fair shot. And heck, I know I've been one of those people too (I started a 2nd town and then never picked it up again).

I tend to pick up ACNL around August/September every year and then play through until Jan/Feb and then put it down again. I don't know why, I just always seem to do that. This time around I'm focusing on collecting all my badges and redecorating my house to how I want it. I'm also working much harder on getting villager pics and then when I have it, letting the villager leave to get a new one in. It's all small goals but then the feeling of achievement when I manage to get one of the goals finished makes me push on to keep playing :)

Hanging out on tbt forum makes me want to play Animal Crossing. Try visiting retail or the train station board. The game is more fun when you have friends visiting your town.

If you're losing interest, you don't have to force yourself to play. That's only going to make you feel more pressured and sick of the game.

A good way to go back into the game is to set small goals for yourself and try to accomplish them. Don't feel pressured to make your town look perfect right away. What matters more is that you have fun playing your game.

Yeah it could just be damaged. I don't know how that would happen though, I always keep my games in their cases and I handle them with care :(
