How can you tell a villager will like the clothes you give them?

So I’ve been giving clothes to my villagers and sometimes, they wear it, and sometimes they just put it in their house. I try to only give them clothes that fit their aesthetic and try on everything in Harvey’s island first. I do know that each villager has what they like and each clothing has a style category but I can’t seem to find how they corilate. Is there a guide saying what villager likes and don’t like?

So from what I've learned is villagers usually have 2 favorite colors and 2 favorite styles, and each clothing item has both color(s) and style(s) attached to it. I use Nook Plaza's Villager Gift Finder to figure out what colors and styles my villagers like and the clothing that fits the style. Here's the link:

Click the tab "Villager Gifts", then just type in your villager name! You can filter for clothing matching both the villager's preferred colors and styles too. Hope that helps
