How can I get other fruits?

My native fruit is Apple, and I'm trying to get the other fruit as well. I've read online a way you can get other fruit is by sending letters and enclosing a fruit with the letter to the other animals in town. But so far all I've managed to get was a coconut, and I didn't plant it in the correct area on the beach and it died. Are there any other ways I can get the other fruit?

Sending fruit presents to other villagers is the best way to get them all. I think writing something like "please send fruit" may give better results, but I am not certain about that. Just keep sending letters and eventually they will give you more fruit. I remember that when I started my current City Folk town, it took me about 2 weeks to get all 5 fruits, since all my villagers kept mailing shirts. Don't be discouraged by that, since you will get them eventually.

I have a few tips for you:

1.) Go to the island, there you can get mangos, lemons, bananas, coconuts and/or some other fruits as well
2.) Like MapleSilver said, mail fruit to your villagers
3.) Visit a friend's town, and ask permission to get their native fruit if you don't already have it
4.) If you have Club Tortimer, you can get all kinds of fruit from not just the islands itself, but people may give you some, just ask! If you do not have it, save up 50 medals. It only took me about a day.
5.) PERFECT FRUIT TIP: Same as #4

This is City Folk. There is no island in this game. Also, Wifi connection for Wii games was turned off years ago.

Yes, sending villagers fruit along with a letter may get them to send a fruit back.
2 days ago I sent four villagers letters with my native fruit (orange) and today I got 3 letters back, only two had gifts but one of them was a cherry.

I'm gonna keep at it and hopefully get all the fruits, hopefully you can too
