One of my favorite things about visiting other islands is seeing the interior design of people’s houses.

I’m curious how you paired up your wallpapers and floorings.

Living room: Cafe Curtain Wall + Slate flooring
- I’ve seen many people use the cafe curtain wall in their kitchens but I decided to use it in my living room to open it up. I paired it with the slate flooring to coordinate the colors. The rest of my furniture is white to brighten it up some more.

Bathroom: Black-brick wall + Cloud flooring
- I like the effect that the cloud flooring gives as if my bathroom is steamy. The black-brick wall is a nice contrast to it so I paired them together.

Office: Harmonious wall + Dark-block flooring
- I wanted to incorporate the harmonious wall somewhere in my house and felt it was most fitting in my office. I love the brick and the light coming through it livens up my office some. I have salsa music going in there so it’s upbeat and not so “office-y”.

Kitchen: Chic wall + Stone tile
- I’ve always liked bright and airy kitchens so I wanted lighter and brighter colors. These two did the trick.

Bedroom: Green-molded panel wall + Cute-paint flooring
- I love the cherry blossom items and so wanted to incorporate them into my bedroom. I’ve had people say it looks peaceful, which is what I was going for.

Basement: Cityscape wall + Galaxy flooring
- This is my arcade/game room and I wanted it to really feel like one. These two paired together make it happen for me. The cityscape makes you forget you’re in the basement and the Galaxy flooring is just my all time favorite. My favorite room for a reason.

I’d love to hear how everyone else has decorated their homes!

This is a cool idea, I always love seeing how others have decorated their houses. But I have a hard time remembering all the names of the wallpapers and floorings, so I'll just include pictures of my house interior. I certainly love the fact that we have a lot of variety to work with, but there were times I was torn between design concepts, but as of now, this is what I think I'll stick with.

My house doesn't really have a consistent theme throughout, I just chose colour palettes and furnitures that I thought would look good together. I guess all those years of watching HGTV rubbed off on me. 😅

@Fendi Oh wow! I LOVE your house. Especially your kitchen. The kitchen was the hardest for me to put in items and figure out how to arrange everything. Your bedroom is so modern and elegant. Love it.

And yes, was hard to remember some so I had to go into my house and remove walls to figure it out lol! I like your idea better of showing the rooms!

Thank you! :)

Honestly, I found the small rooms so tedious to decorate because of the lack of space we have. Since it's only 6x6, as soon as you place down one furniture item, you cannot even divide up any parts of the room, so you're left with pretty much a small square to work with. :(

If we had more furniture variety as well, I would have probably opted to do some things differently, particularly kitchen furniture since we hardly have any counter tops or such!

Agreed! The space we get is so small. There’s so much furniture I would love to use but it’s so difficult to fit in pieces without it looking too cluttered.

@Hirisa I love the brick! You just can’t go wrong with them. Plus they easily go with lots of the flooring choices out there.

Your design aesthetic is super cozy. I love it. Makes me want to sit back and relax. I don’t think I’ve seen the flooring in your bathroom. May I ask what it’s called?

Thanks, jo_electric! I am glad my place looks comfy to you - that's my eternal goal! The bathroom floor uses the kitschy tile, which I am pretty sure is redesigned from its old NL/WW etc iteration, which was, IIRC, nacho orange!

Oh I like it! Thanks for letting me know. Well, you’ve accomplished it pretty nicely, I must say.

my rooms kinda pale in comparison to other people’s ideas but i kinda like them aha ;;

Also, I am really inspired by your use of the harmonious wall. I like that wallpaper a lot, but it can look pretty formal. The use of primary colored rugs makes it less stuffy-seeming but still serious in an artsy kinda way.

I have yet to do my upstairs room. Its up in the air but I've basically got the looks down for everywhere else despite my little changes here and there.

I wish I had a neat explanation of why I did the things I did, but I don't. Just went with stuff I liked and worked around that.

@xara Love your game room. Like how you used that carpet for it. It reminds me of older arcades.

Thank you! Exactly! I wanted to use it in some way without it looking like a stuffy den. The rugs just seemed to fit to downplay the woody feel.

@Luella your rooms are so whimsical! Love them. I wasn’t expecting the main entry or the bathroom. I wondered how to use the mossy garden flooring and you nailed it.

@jo_electric your house is beautiful! I love your use of the rugs in this game, ESPECIALLY the round mats!! I never found a good use of them but the neutrality of your home paired with the primary colors is so nice?? also i love your game room! I haven't gotten the cityscape wallpaper for Saharah yet but your arcade room looks like a very fancy one!

Everyone has such nice ideas! I have a second islander (my boyfriend) and his house will be your regular living room, kitchen, etc. whereas mine has a lot of themed rooms, so I'm definitely getting lots of inspo :)

I only have 2 rooms "done" in my house, it's still a work in progress, especially since I'm focused on island designing! (ps I did edit my photos since the filters on ACNH aren't the best haha)

@aesbea thank you so much! I feel I spent the most time decorating the interior of my house more than anything. But it’s honestly the funnest part.

Wow, your two rooms look incredible. I love the use of the cloud flooring in your ethereal room. And your arcade room is so colorful! Wish I could be there in real life haha. Can I ask how you managed to get such good pictures? I literally took pictures of my screenshots lol so needing some help.

i love the utilization of rugs in these photos!

It’s fun to see where they fit best considering the options we have. I feel like they really make a room. :)

Thank you so much! And I use the "camera app" on your nook phone! So ZL > Camera App > then I adjust the camera and press the + sign to take a picture! I have a private twitter since my laptop can't read microSD and I just save the image from twitter to my laptop :) I hope that helps!

@aesbea ah makes total sense. I saw the two posting options but didn’t want to post to social media. But if I make it to “only me” or my private Twitter than that would work. :) thanks for the tip!

If it wasn't for this thread, I don't know if I would be as aware of my crippling brick wall dependency! As much as I hoard unique wallpapers, I always come back to bricks.View attachment 271254View attachment 271255View attachment 271256
