How are you guys decorating your houses? Right now, I'm working on the Rustic theme, but once I've finished the HHA stuff, I'm thinking about incorporating some Antique and Fairy Tale stuff. There are tons of things I like from all three themes, and I don't want to make more player characters, so this seems like a viable solution.

Do y'all go with single themes, or mix and match? Do you create houses you'd actually want to live in (that's what I'm trying to do) or take a different approach?

All of my rooms (except for my Christmas/Jingle room) are a mix of 2 furniture sets. My Dream Address is in my signature if you'd like to look at my house.

OMG! I had a thread asking the exact same question, but didn't finish it! AWESOME! I was wondering if people stuck to the sets or branched out! I used to have every room a different Gracie theme and then one Pave. I did that for years because my OCD demands order. But I actually am proud to say that I have begun mixing and matching. I have two current obsessions: the cabin furniture and the polka dot furniture refurbished in different color schemes. I have two of the same refurbished polka dot sets in the blue and brown using the tall mushroom lamps from the mushroom set. I am currently making another polka dot set using pink and the flowery tee. It is very pretty. After that is pink and cream soda using the kitschy wall and floor. It's crazy weird and I love it!

All of my houses sorta have their own distinct theme. Doesn't always stick to it fully, though, but I'm pretty happy with how my houses look. Dream address is in my sig if you care to take a look.

I gotta say, you guys all have awesome houses! I got lots of inspiration.

Also, MrGameAndScotch, I really liked exploring your town. I experienced a lot of things I'd never done in New Leaf before: blowing a tweeter, throwing beans, eating ice cream... it was wonderful fun! I got a lot of ideas for stuff to leave out for visitors to Matcha.

I never did find the wetsuit, though. :( I guess that calls for another visit sometime to give it another go.

I love to mix furniture.
this time, I've decided to go with a more basic layout for the house. it's a bit weird, but I like it, and it's simple, so furnishing the rooms is a lot less trouble. well, mostly. I'm very indecisive, which tends to be a problem. my bedroom, I just don't know about it. I'm having a very hard time and it's a little bit upsetting.
my main room is super simple, and a bit more empty, because of the awkward open spaces(well, doorways) on the sides and back. I give up on making a good fully furnished main room. XD

I have a kitchen in this house, which I have never done before. it still needs a fair bit of stuff, as I'm unsure what to put on the "counters"(kiddie dressers) and if I should add some more wall stuff. and there's a little empty spot that needs... something.

I'm kind of at a loss on how I want to decorate my houses, mainly because I have so many of them at this point. I was doing room-by-room themes but I just have no clue anymore. The rooms in my cat town look horrible because I clearly have no idea what to do with them haha

My mayor's house is taking the HHA Fairy Tale challenge. I have over one million HHA points, so I think I did pretty well with that hahaha.

The mayor's house is super pink. In the main room, I have the Lovely series. The other rooms on the main floor are using the Harvest, Mermaid, and Rococo (White) series. I customized my lighting fixtures to be pink, so basically most of my rooms are at disgustingly pink level right now haha. I love it. Upstairs, I have the Princess series. I think that might be my only "normal" room. No weird lighting going on there! Downstairs in the basement, I have my Gorgeous room. It used to be the back room, but it didn't match the Fairy Tale theme. I have gold lighting going on in there.

I didn't end up mixing and matching in this house just because I had one room for all of my favorite furniture series. I'm still working on my second character's house, but since 1) this isn't the house that shows up when I Streetpass people and 2) I already have the HHA rewards on my mayor, I'm more open to mixing and matching furniture.

I'm super jealous of people who mix and match without carrying about the HHA scores. That score is one of the biggest parts of Animal Crossing for me haha. I have the highest HHA score on my university campus right now, and I will not be giving that title up anytime soon. >>

Since starting the game, I didn't care about the HHA score or collecting sets. I don't have any rooms that are solely one or two sets, I like to mix it up. I feel like HHA kind of ruins one of the best aspects of the game (for me) with the strict requirements for the point system.

I have a living room, bedroom and 'game' room. Living room has cool collectibles from Gulliver, things that seem cool and sofas, televisions and basically whatever seems cool to me. Bedroom has some sleek furniture, toilets and other cool collectibles such as tapestries or guitars. Game room has stereos, kiddie furniture, sleek bed, disco balls and whatever 'funky' furniture. I'll post pictures soon.
