Okay, so!
Recently I sold my town because I was unhappy with the layout, the placements of permanent PWPs, and the (empty) size of my Mayor's home.
The two things I seem to be able to get right are bathrooms, and kitchens. No big deal.
Except, with living rooms I always blunder. I guess it's expected for the main room to be the living room, which usually due to my poor efforts ends up looking like a small apartment, kitchen and living room rolled into one. ;o; I honestly don't know what to fill all that space with, and I feel incredibly uncreative.
It was much simpler in GC times, as there was only a set (and small) amount of furniture, but now with so many choices (including Cyrus refurbishings, which blast, I always seem to forget about and take a piece of furniture as it is, for face value.) I can't seem to nail down any certain theme or feel. I've thought about those ones that use lots of large bookcases to fill space (you know, the cozy mansion ones) but it's been done, and it doesn't feel right.
This problem has happened to me since the beginning, as you're required to expand one too many times more of your main floor before you're allowed to get an upstairs, secret storage or any side rooms. So basically, I guess I'm just looking for ideas/screenshots?
If I had to pick a general feel for the town, I'm aiming for rustic/woodsy. But the house doesn't have to be a cabin. Generally cozy little nooks and corners that you actually want to spend some legitimate time in just enjoying. Or modest means/efficiencies/shanties but with a lot of heart and warmth. Like, take Resetti for example. Or...
Messy looking homes/middle class or things like your parents' had when you were growing up in the 2000's. A place that looks like you could just kick back with friends and laugh for hours and be excited to be in. (I.e. if I had to think of a villager that fit that, maybe Carrie.) Anyone have ideas?
