Help with blathers !!

Hi ,
I’ve been on animal crossing new horizons for ages now and seem to have missed blathers ? I’ve got pocket full of creature but tom nook is not prompting me for them ! What am I doing wrongAny help appreciated
I believe you have to follow Tom Nook's 'tutorial', where you ask him what you need to do. He will eventually tell you about the creatures you can catch, and to bring him them. Once you give him five, he'll give you Blathers' tent to set up.
Place your tent. Place the other tents.
Go to sleep.
The next day Tom Nook will wake you up and deliver the phone. Back in his tent he will offer tasks to complete. I assume there should be an option named "What should I do..." Tom Nook is the big racoon in the back. The one at the entrance of the tent is either Timmy or Tommy. They run the shop.
Tom Nook will gift a diy recipe. Craft the net and fishing pole to collect 5 creatures. Tell Tom Nook you "found a creature" and donate the first. You will get stuff in return. After the 5th donation Blathers will be on the phone after which you are asked to find a spot for his tent (museum).
The next day Blathers will visit and request 15 donations for the museum to be build.

Thanks for your reply . I’m way into the game . Got a house , with extra room. Been to other islands etc . I’ve obviously missed blathers visiting at the beginning . Do you think I would need to restart to trigger him

Restarting is solely up to you.
The game isn't (shouldn't be) broken if you missed it and should still allow you to open te museum. You are probably not the first to experience this. In the end you won't have missed anything if you open your museum a bit later. The bugs you have caught can be placed outside or in storage, and donated once the museum is opened. Same goes for the fossils you may or may not have found.
Keep in mind that resetting means you'll lose your desired island layout. Game progress. Toy day items. Villagers. Is that all worth is?

Are you playing as the resident representative? I believe only the resident rep can donate creatures to Nook
