So I've got this problem. I've got 10 villagers I'm happy with, which is always my first priority when building a new town (easier to build paths and projects after getting who you want, when you actually know where your villagers will live and where you can build).

But now comes the building and designing bit. I feel like my town feels rather... full? Like I might have to re-plan my paths and town ideas. I kinda feel like I don't have room for Brewsters anywhere, what with it being such a big caf?. The police station is a smaller problem, but a part of it nonetheless.

Beneath I've drawn a veeery simple map of what my town looks like. It focuses on the important things, like where my paths currently are and where the rocks are.

my town.jpg
Red indicates a villager's house.
Black indicates things I absolutely CANNOT change, like my house, the town hall and the Re-Tail Shop.
Yellow indicates my current paths.
Dark gray spots are rocks.

I've written a bit about my plans for those areas, in the PWP area I'm planning to put some benches, streetlights, fountains and such. The "forest" area is more natural, I might have benches and a play-area to capture the park feeling. Question marks means I'm not sure what to do with the area (the top left area is not big enough for brewsters).

I haven't played in a while, I consider myself kinda middle-of-the-road when it comes to ACNL experience. I would like advice on where to put my pwps, paths, ect, from people who are better at this than I. This town is a work in progress! ;)

why don't you put your pwps around the corners?

Hey, thanks for responding ^^ You mean by the question marks? I might put something there, but I don't think there's room for the caf?.
I might have to redo my paths, there is some potential on the lower part of the town.

from the looks of your map, it seems that a lot of your town is concentrated and more densely populated on the lower peninsula area. if that is getting too squished, then try putting something under your campsite looking thing, the triangle; or even under the planned forest/park area. I am having the same problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think that's a pretty solid idea. I like having densely populated areas so I can just put some simple paths there, and focus on the bigger PWPs elsewhere. Blathers just suggested the caf?, so I'll see what I can do... And good luck with your town! ^^
