Help! All my trees are dying!

So I tried planting a few more trees around my cafe, but I TTd a day later and they died. I was fine with that, as I thought there were some spacing issues with the cafe, but now I'm starting to think something's really wrong. I just tried planting about 12 trees around my plaza all in open spots, but I TTd 3 days ahead and they all died! Can someone please explain what's happening as I'm worried there is a tree limit I'm not aware of .

I have a ton of trees on the upper portion of my town (completely developed), but close to none on the bottom half.

I remembering hearing something like Pine Trees can't grow in the southern/bottom half of the town. Is that what you are trying to do?

Ahh yes, I just did some researching and that's what I'm hearing. That's really disappointing, I wanted to create a forest on the bottom half D:. Ah well, thanks for your help!

No wait... I don't think that's completely right on second thought... I remember at the start of my town I planted a bunch of cedars around my plaza, and they grew fine. Also the cafe is on the top half of my town.... Maybe there's just a cedar limit?

Hmm just did a bit more research and I think it is true that they only grow on the top half. When I first planted the cedars around my plaza, they grew because the bottom of the plaza was the cutoff for the top half of my town. The river doesn't separate the halves. there's an invisible line running straight across your town.
