I'm pretty sure that the Hay Bed DIY comes with the DIY for Beginners item that can be bought from your Nooklings' store? You shouldn't have to trade it from someone else; I'm not even sure if you can, since I'm pretty sure it's one of those DIYs that's automatically sent to your DIY Recipes lists and doesn't exist as a physical card.
