I've never played a Metroid game, and I was just wondering if I'm missing out on much?

It depends what you're into. If Sci-Fi shooters are your sort of thing then yes, they are pretty awesome but other than that, no. I always preferred the side scrolling Metroid games because I'm not a huge FPS person.

Well, although the Metroid games are highly praised, they are not for everyone.

The main thing Metroid is about is exploration and that possibly means coming back to areas you've been before etc., so if that is something you like, then yeah they are pretty good.

Personally speaking I do not care for the 2D Metorids, but think Metroid Prime 1 and 3 are fantastic (never played Prime 2)

Metroid reminds me of Zelda, but futuristic with a gun, you find powerups, explore the dungeon (usually Metroid games consist of one massive area), fight the bosses, etc.

it was good in the past,

but IMO, its idea is being taken and improved, making metroid out dated and not as good.

plus metroid plots arent very good,

Well, I love the Zelda games, so would I enjoy Metroid?

Metroid really isn't much like Zelda imo. The only real similarities between the two is you gain new weapons/items to get past obstacles.

In Zelda you take place in a big over world containing many dungeons and you interact with many people along the way.

In Metorid, the whole game is pretty much a dungeon as there are obstacles everywhere, and there is usually no one to interact with.

So the Metroid series is very different than Zelda series.

It's likely.

In metroid (the fps versions), you always have that creepy feeling that you're all alone.

The old ones and the new ones are very different though. The prime series has it's own storyline, while the old ones do too. If you want to play the other m, I suggest you play the old ones first.

No. Metroid sucks.
Yes, your opinion matters here because you're always the first one to add a support to it.

Depends if you're talking about 2D or the FPS ones, the FPS ones (Metroid Prime) are really good, but I don't care so much for the 2Ds, but I do still like them. If you're into the type of game, you're missing out.

Im really looking forward to metroid other M because, like Al said, you get that feeling youre all alone in the 1st person ones.

And prime trilogy is worth a gander anyway, very good games.

It's literally a $150 value for $50. Three games in one.

Off Topic: Ciaran, you have The trilogy?
