Has anyone experienced this 4 star rating glitch?

Hi all,

About a week ago I reached 5 stars on my island. About a day after I then decided to force spawn my rocks. I did this using the mannequin method so that there was no clean up. From then on however I have been reduced to a 4 star rating with Isabelle constantly telling me there are traffic hazards. I have tried countless things to rectify this. Removing any furniture or objects I thought might be in the way. Moving inclines, bridges and buildings. I have empties out parts where I think there was large amounts of furniture. For reference, I did not change anything from before to after it force spawned the rocks. I have TT as well in the future to see if it would refresh but as I understand the evaluation is almost instant. I even destroyed the 6 force spawned rocks thinking that was the problem since it began from then but to no avail. I am actually now convinced that this is a glitch and I'm surprised I haven't found any other person having this issue, but it's disheartening to know I won't ever reach 5 stars and have lily of the valley naturally spawn on my island. Are there any suggestions from you guys? Thank you!

I've looked it up and the problem seems to be inaccessible areas or blocked inclines/bridges.

It could be that your rock area is completely fenced in AND has paths/"empty" space to walk on, and the game wants villagers to get there. (I have one roughly the same size, but it doesn't trigger the hazard message presumably because it's completely filled with flowers.)

I've actually removed the fencing and the rocks and the toilet. Sorry I wasn't clearer before. She still give the same response. I even removed all the camping furniture at the top actually and still the same..

Are there any entrances or bridges/inclines blocked so your villagers can't use them?

Nope. not at all. And when I had 5 stars my inclines and bridges were in the exact same place. Nothing was changed. Another interesting thing was I tried littering on my island to see if she would give different feedback such as there being so much rubbish on the floor. She still said it was a traffic hazard so I'm quite convinced this is a glitch of some sort.

That's really weird :/ Sorry, I can't think of anything else. Fingers crossed that it isn't a glitch and you miss out on the rating permanently.

Thank you anyway for your suggestions! If anyone else as any other advice I'd be greatly appreciative :)

What does this mean? You were able to despawn all mannequins without picking them back up? I wonder if that's where the glitch is coming from

Yes. It's the more efficient way of force spawning your rocks as you lay down mannequins from a design and then you just change the design and they all just disappear. I wonder the same thing but other people don't seem to have experienced this problem who I know. I even tried changing the design or copying a blank one onto it but still nothing..

I have a feeling it's something to do with spawning and de-spawning the mannequins.

any suggestion on how to reset this? other than starting over obviously..
Sorry, I really wouldn't know. :(
I'd suggest reporting it to Nintendo though and, hopefully, some more users on here could offer more insight.
I wonder if the mannequins are appearing as "phantom" objects in your game which is what is causing this glitch.

I guess another option would be to just completely flatten your Island and start decorating all over again.

I would think if there were phantom objects, they would prevent anything from being placed down in the same spot. I guess OP could try placing furniture down in key locations to see if there are some problems. I've had a shell despawn on my beach a while back, and although the shell could neither be seen or picked up, the game no longer let me put anything in its place (https://www.belltreeforums.com/threads/bug-psa-be-careful-with-furniture-on-the-beach.498420/)

ah this is really interesting to know thanks. although you quit before it saved which fixed it, but unfortunately I saved my game after doing this so I wonder if even after finding the phantom spot if I am able to somehow remove it?

Placing a building on top of it. The problem is that if the troublesome areas are near structures you may be unable to do anything about it, especially if it's close to resident services.

I don't think it'd be too difficult to remove bridges or inclines and placing buildings on them to remove the phantoms and items can't be placed on the plaza at resident services anyway, but I can see this taking a lot of work and time. I have paths placed around many of my bridges which narrows down which ones I should try I guess as I didn't need to place mannequins on those ones?

When you destroy bridges and inclines, what happens? start with the bridges first and then make a terraformed bridge instead in that same spot. Check with Isabelle after destroying and building a terraformed bridge.

I've tried removing several bridges and inclines. Not all of them, though but I did try testing out this invisible object thing by playing a kitchen island in front of every bridge and incline and building and nothing seemed out of the ordinary like anything at all was blocked..
