Has anyone been successful in breeding plants

I've yet to witness any progress with my red roses

I'm getting the same color roses growing, maybe it happens later into the game. Maybe the season is affecting the growth rate!

Just plant different color plants of the same category (red rose and a white rose) adjacent to each other, then other flowers should grow around them.
