I really enjoy playing harvest moon magical melody on my Wii so my mother bought one for ds and its not as good as the Wii game as it is an older version. I'm looking for a game like magical melody but for my 3ds. how's the new game? I was going to buy it but didn't want to spend all my money on it but I'll have my money again soon.

I've never played any GameCube or Wii Harvest Moon games sadly, but I have played one (original) DS and one 3DS version.

The 3DS version I have played is A New Beginning. I really quite liked that one. I am also quite looking forward to Story of Seasons as it has yet to be released here.

As for the old DS versions I didn't like any of the ones that I played. If the one you have is either Harvest Moon: DS or Harvest Moon: DS Cute then yeah, I can see why you didn't like them.

The newer ones are definitely better, and if you don't mind a couple spoilers, sometimes watching even just a little bit of someone's let's play of one of games it can help you figure out if you'll like it or not before you buy.

Well, if you're just look for 3DS Harvest Moons your options are Tale of Two Towns (3DS version has some issues, don't get it), A New Beginning (I love it but the new game might be better), and the upcoming Story of Seasons, which looks promising.

But you also have the DS games as options. Aside from DS/Cute (which is probably what you played), there's Island of Happiness and Sunshine Islands (which are basically the same but SI is general regarded as better I think), and Grand Bazaar (don't know much about this one).

I'm a huge fan of the Harvest Moon series. I first played Harvest Moon DS Cute, but I couldn't get into Magical Melody for some reason. Probably because I couldn't play as my own gender, since I didn't buy the Gamecube version.

A New Beginning is the new one which I bought recently and, yes, it's a good game. For some reason, it doesn't completely feel like Harvest Moon anymore though. I don't really care for the events in this one. Maybe it's because I love the old sprite-type characters, or it might just be what I'm used to.

The tutorial at the beginning is a little slow but, once the game gets moving, it's actually really fun to play. I'm not so keen on the customizing your own town/farm thing, since I feel like there's hardly any space to put things. It also means that you have to rearrange everything to find a space for the building you want to place.

I'd recommend it, and I do think it's a good game. :)

I Love the new beginning and then I lost it, and then it took 11 stores here in montreal to find it, and now I love it even more.
Piece of advice : NEVER SALE YOUR GAME(only on 3ds)
And I cannot wait for story of seasons.

Hey, buddy, if you wanna talk about Harvest Moon, I know this great site where I'm also a member...
A New Beginning is great. But Story of Seasons is coming out really soon, so I might save my money, if I were you and wait for the next game.
And Island of Happiness is better than Sunshine Islands. Everyone says SI is better because the controls aren't touch based and that's like the only reason cuz dey de same game (except denny is cooler in ioh) fsmh

Do you mean Fogu? ...i'm on there too ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ

If your looking for something similar to Magical Melody, I would go with A New Beginning. I don't know why, but I feel like they both give off the same play-style vibes. Plus, creating and adapting the town/your farm is very similar.
