hey this is a question for a friend

they have all the stuff for their house including the secret store room and they did that all before the update, so how do they get lottie to show up? do you have to link your happy home designer data?

No, after you upgrade to the secret storage room, it should be unlocked. That's how it was for me in both towns :/

You gotta build the secret store room then go back to nook's and Lottie will be there to give you a tutorial/HHD moving powers

You've got to expand to the secret storage room for sure before you can get Lottie to show up. You don't have to link your happy home designer data at any point to get her to show up. She should just appear in Nook's homes shortly after you expand.
