If you can't/won't TT there's not much you can do.

I also find it nasty that I paid for my amiibo's yet I'm being punished for using them, having to craft something three times before they can move in, yet a campsite villager requires no real effort.

it's awful when you have to spend a gold nugget to move some of the amiibos in too, lol.
but you're skipping the rng/potential hours of island hopping, so there's the trade-off.

That stinks that you can't time-travel to speed up this process. :/ However, I'm sure that your friend will understand this is beyond your control (including longer shipping times than normal) and will still consider it a fantastic birthday gift, albeit belated.

Yeah, I was super annoyed the first time I did this too. I thought it was going to be a quick process like in ACNL. I usually just TT to get someone in quickly now. At first I waited it out and tried to enjoy the process but it's been months and yeah. Just move your arse in.

Just keep the card until Pietro moves in.
Then give your friend the card.

I still don't understand why they made the whole process of how to invite amiibo villagers so pretty complicated and time consuming. Like, if you already have to pay so much money for those cards, then you just want to finally have your favorite on your island and don't wanna go through this painfully long way till they even move in.

I'm sorry to hear that you have such troubles and I hope for you that you get Pietro very soon!

Oh, that is frustrating! D: I mean, I get the trade-off, but I'm currently waiting on amiibos to come in and it's kind of a bummer that I'll have to do special requests to get them in when they could move in easily if RNG had them show up. I'm sorry! I'm sure your friend will understand if you ask them to keep the card just a touch longer!

she's a pretty nice person I think she'll let me borrow it at some point
plus, i'm gonna be getting a new island (i bought a switch lite so i have to get a new island) and it'll be a while 'til i get the campsite, so i guess she can hold onto it a while before letting me borrow it? though my plan was to invite pietro over here and then on my new island NOT set out the last plot until pietro on my old island wants to move out, and when he does i'll just invite him to my new island (does that make sense? it does to me)

really tho. if Nintendo wants us to NOT tt, why on EARTH would they do stupid stuff like this to literally PROMOTE tt-ing????

Yeah, it's pretty bad you have to do it three times. Both my mom and I were like, "what?..." when we first found that out. My mom almost didn't get the villagers she wanted on her island when she was just beginning to get her villagers to move in, but she did make it in time before a random one got the plot.

My reaction was kind of similar when I found out too. I thought I was doing something wrong, but no that's seriously the only way to move in amiibo villagers. Personally, I think it's ridiculous to go through the hassle of crafting items using materials you might not even have on hand or are short of, not just once, but three times (once each day). It really does feel like a punishment for... buying the amiibo? Idk what Nintendo was thinking there.

I read above that villagers even ask for items that require gold nuggets (I haven't encountered that yet, thankfully), which makes the situation more ridiculous because gold nuggets aren't that easy to come by, especially to move in a villager you payed to get.
