it's finally the Year of the Dog

are you doign anything to celebrate lunar new year aka Chinese New Year??

nothing goes on publicly where i live, but i know in some families there will be red packets handed out and celebratory reunion meals.

what about where you live, are there any fireworks, or dragon dances?
do you do anything to celebrate the occasion?

happy lunar new year! here in my town in new york city, we have a lunar new year parade yearly. i went today, it was a lot of fun!

Happy Chinese New Year!

We just got back from church. There were fireworks, food, and red packets! Although the Lunar New Year started on Friday, our family actually had a feast a couple days before; we couldn't eat any meat on Friday because of Lent. My mom whipped up a bunch of delicious food, but since I had my braces tightened, I didn't eat very much. Oh, and I had to go outside of the house and come back in again on Friday because apparently I'll bring good luck to the family for the whole year - I'm the year of the Horse, and since I'm compatible with the Dog, I'll bring luck. That's pretty much all we did.
