Yea, I'm honestly amazed how they can get enough money to keep the servers up and bring out expansions etc. without a monthly fee, let alone make this amazing looking game.Gnome said:I'm considering purchase it. I like how it doesn't involve a subscription.
I somehow doubt it'll be released before July of next year... beta isn't expected to start until December and then I'm guessing it'll need atleast 6 months of testing before release.TheDoctor said:I'm so buying this when it's released, except I'll have all my GCSE studies going on so I won't be able to play it much.
Even if it is released later next year I'll have the other half of my GCSE's. (Media and Triple Science have exam's early in my school.)Jas0n said:I somehow doubt it'll be released before July of next year... beta isn't expected to start until December and then I'm guessing it'll need atleast 6 months of testing before release.TheDoctor said:I'm so buying this when it's released, except I'll have all my GCSE studies going on so I won't be able to play it much.

now to see if my friends are going to get it/if the price is right.
huge step up from the guild wars I know, atm. I like how the world is more or less fully open. also, liking how the weapons changing your skills ended up turning out, though I didn't like it when I first heard.Jas0n said:inorite, I never expected anything like that from an MMO.Psychonaut said:the third video makes it look beastly.Jas0n said:Nice that you bumped this, saved me having to XD

I always though 20 was far too little, having 80 levels allows for not only a bigger world but more diversity.Psychonaut said:huge step up from the guild wars I know, atm. and the everyone having heals... is alright I guess. not sure how I'm going to like the level 80 cap though :/ 20 was a nice thing.
I thought 20 was alright.. it just got really hard when you're anti-social/don't find good members for your party.Jas0n said:I always though 20 was far too little, having 80 levels allows for not only a bigger world but more diversity.
I was watching a Q&A from Gamescon and one of the developers said that there were 3 ways to level, The first is through your own personal story which is similar to how Guild Wars 1 worked, where it's just your instance and any quests you do in the instance will have permanent results on the world.
The second is through in the main world, you can do events and quests out in the real world where other people can join in freely, but nothing is "permanent" as such. When you complete events it'll have a permanent effect, but that'll change when another player or NPC comes along and changes that.
The third is through killing mobs, just general grinding or the killing mobs in the events and quests.
I think it's nice that they're giving players tons of options when it comes to leveling, it'll keep things fresh constantly. Not to mention to ever changing world. I also love the fact that each player has their own personal instance, which they can invite other players too if they wish.
Thing is, you don't need parties now. If you want you can play solo in your personal instance and still level just through solo-events, though you can bring friends along with you if you want them to join in.Psychonaut said:I thought 20 was alright.. it just got really hard when you're anti-social/don't find good members for your party.Jas0n said:I always though 20 was far too little, having 80 levels allows for not only a bigger world but more diversity.

the leveling differences seems kinda interesting, so basically where you are in the story will auto-level you, but you'll still have to grind, for non-story stuff?
and the changing world made me wtf, due to it being huge and events happening ERRYDAY
you didn't always need parties in gw1, you just had to have specific builds. I'm going to assume that there's still going to be a large focus on team play, if not a larger focus on team play (combining skills, reviving teammates in big battles, etc), but everyone having a heal skill will probably level out the need for a good team being necessary a lot.Jas0n said:Thing is, you don't need parties now. You can also just take part in the events out in the open world, other people will most likely be doing them anyway so you can just join in with them, and if there isn't anybody else doing them the events will scale down to suit one person, so you're not overwhelmed with mobs or anything.
And no, you won't EVER have to grind, the whole leveling experience will either be events and quests through your personal story, or events and quests out in the live world. Though you can grind if you really want to.
Yea, the changing world is epic... it'll keep the world fresh. When you go back to a city that you was doing a event at before it may be completely destroyed, or possibly taken over by some mobs. It's really interesting.
Yea, they said they didn't want you to bring people along to parties just because they're a healer or a tank, but you hate them. They want you to play with people you enjoy playing with and to be able to play the class you want to play. We'll see how that works once the game is released though, we don't know an awful lot of info about it yet.Psychonaut said:you didn't always need parties in gw1, you just had to have specific builds. quest/event grinding, lolwhut?
I think it'll keep the world fresh, sure, but for how long? if they do continuing updates on it, I'm sure it'll last a long time (so long as the updates focus on new, interesting events) but if they just leave it alone, there'll only be so many times a person can encounter a new boss without them seeing the same boss twice, mirite?
but yes, it's much more interesting than how gw1 worked, having events outside of the outposts, not really effecting anything but what progress you have in the story
