When I did my fashion check on my deleted town Alaska, I just wore one item from the specific theme, like if she wanted a "cute" theme, I would wear one thing from the "cute" theme and then just random stuff after that.
I wore a shirt, pants, or hat for the theme though, so you should be good with 1 rock n' roll item. I don't think I have any, but GL w/ your fashion check!
