Controlling flower spread
. Instead of using fences, I use custom clover and pebbles tiles and place them around flowers in areas where I don't want more flowers popping up after a rainy day. Looks natural!

Stop plucking flowers, erasing custom tiles, etc accidentally. This happens when I need to use Y to pick up a fruit near a custom ground tile or a flower. I wait for the thought bubble that says the name of the fruit to pop up, then hit Y. This way, I always pick up the fruit, not erase the custom tile.

Increase friendship quickly. Give your villagers gift-wrapped iron wall lamps daily. Wrapped foreign fruits would work as well, but not as fast.

Prolong tool durability. Customize your tools to reset their usage counter and prevent breakage. It doesn't apply on axes, flimsy and golden tools though.

If you carry spare tools, when you break one just drop a new one and pick it back up again, it will automatically replace the old ones spot in the inventory and tool wheel and will auto fave. Saves having to do redo it manually every time.

Always carry a DIY Workbench with you

Honestly, when I started terraforming, I lost count how many times my shovel and axe broke from cutting trees and moving flowers. I made the stupid decision of not investing in one and having to always run into resident services to craft. After creating MY OWN workbench and carrying it with me all the time, my life has been so much easy.

Plus, every time I have an immediate thought of perfect crafted furniture that would go in a certain area, I can make it right away without forgetting later. :)

just VIBE

enjoy the scenery and the visuals, the little things, the villager interactions. Go To The Museum. go to the mystery islands. literally just sit there and listen to the music. just vibe. you never have to rush.

Don’t sell all the non-native fruit you get
I made this mistake and kind of forgot about all the peaches I’d been selling to the nooklings. Fast forward three days later when I’m going to a DIY giveaway event. I pick up a recipe for a peach umbrella and was so bummed that I’d have to wait a whole more three days for more peaches. Plant as much non-native fruit as you can. I reserved a spot on the cliffs for bamboo shoots and fruit trees. You can sell some of it, but it can also be used in awesome DIYs. It’s such a little thing, but you can make a lot of cute things from hoarding your fruit!

If you're wanting to get an aerial view of your airport area for reference or something, you can do so without needing to visit someone's island and leaving. Just create a new (temporarily) character on the island, and quit the game after the cutscene ends.

I created a new character, took this video, and then quit the game. The new character went away, and I got what I needed.

You don't have to do everything in one day. This is a game that is supposed to take time. Seasons change in real-time and it is a real collect-a-thon type of game as well as a life sim. Remember to take your time and enjoy it. If you don't want to do something that day, you don't have to.

Adding on to the OP tip about controlling flower spreads, I put down a transparent tile. Provides a barrier but is totally invisible.

Don't fret over details.

Your villager picked up a wierd catchphrase from someone? They put up something in their house? They dont have the hobby you imagined?

You'll find the game way more relaxing if you stop obsessing over things and try to control everything.

Hate Bees! Hold your net. Face the front of the tree. Make sure there is not a lot of weeds or flowers around your tree. Then shake. If a wasp falls. You will automatically turn to face it. Just swing and catch. Easy.

Shake those trees for 1-2 furniture items.

Get at least 5 DIY a day. 2 on the beach at morning and evening. 3 from villagers at morning, afternoon and evening.

Lastly, spend some time to figure out what you want. Then go for it. You can do amazing things and be super creative. Do what you want. Just don't be afraid to ask for help and advice if you get a little stuck getting there. :D
