Golden Tools Question

What do the golden tools do different to the normal tools and silver tools?
Thonky.com just tells me how to get them.

I also have a question:
Thonky says you need to buy fertilizer for the golden shovel
and I've also heard that once you donate every fossil, you get the shovel.

which is it?

The Golden Axe - Never Breaks
The Golden Watering Can - Waters up to 9 plants ( also turns wilted black flowers into golden flowers)
The Golden Shovel - Plants Money Trees
The Golden Slingshot - Shoots up to 3 little balls ( I don't know the correct term)
The Golden Rod - Fish Notice it better & They hold on longer

I believe that is the difference

I think this is how the fishing rod is too but for fish..
