Golden shovel question

Normal shovel that lasts longer. Can break rocks by eating fruit like always.

None of the Golden Tools have any other benefits besides longer duration.

Thx got the golden axe but was hoping for a stone not the one that cuts trees down.

Yeah...they made the golden tools pretty pointless in this game. The least they could have done, is allow the shovel to spawn more gold nuggets or dig up bells or something. Literally just having "a shovel, but it lasts a bit longer" is hardly motivation to go through the hassle of getting one.

The only thought I have, is...maybe the golden tools break in New Horizons because they intend to introduce diamond tools at some point? Remember...we used to have a wide array of gems in the AC world, but we lost those with NH. If they reintroduce gems in an update, they can add diamonds, and then they can add a recipe for diamond tools...which make far more sense in being indestructible than gold ever did (since gold is a very soft metal). Sure...it would feel like a Minecraft ripoff...but, diamond tools are kinda commonplace now.

All golden tools do is last longer than the regular ones,

They shouldn't break and I will die by that because they're GOLDEN TOOLS they really shouldn't

It's annoying honestly

Especially when the whole point of the golden axe before is that it doesn't break.... smh it makes no sense

Nah I don't think they will, the reason they break is simply to keep the incentive to gather materials and keep crafting.

Something tells me they didn't want players crafting and giving away unbreakable tools to others (especially those starting the game), merely because they want players to go through the mechanic properly. So even if players get one early, it'll still break and they'll have to through the proper tool diy upgrading until they work for their own golden tool diy.

It differs per tool! golden shovel is at 200, normal at 100, flimsy at 40 while golden net is at 90, normal at 30, flimsy at 10

Here’s a Reddit thread that has all the durabilities
had no idea, thought all of them were the same lol. thanks for the info!

dang, looking closer the tools in new horizons really do suck. golden tools are not worth the price imo. you'd probably have to break more than one golden shovel/axe to find a golden nugget needed for crafting it...

The only useful one in my opinion is the gold watering can, which can produce gold roses. I broke a gold sling shot and will not waste my gold nuggets on it anymore.
