Going without paths?

I don't use paths. I just let flowers grow all over the place. I clean them up a bit from time to time, but usually that's too much work for me. LOL

Paths look better in my opinion, but pathless towns can also look great. I've always wanted to visit a town where the whole ground is covered in flowers and nothing else.

i thought the OP meant patterns. I do have dirt paths from walking certain routes, they look like trails; i like them. I like many of the towns i've seen with patterned walkways though. You should go with whatever you like, it's by no means universal to have one or the other.

I honestly don't really care for paths anymore after trying them in my town for a year. They're nice and make your town seem structured, but I don't like them unless they're completely natural and seem to blend into the surroundings well. Dirt paths are the way to go, except I don't like how you can't easily "erase" them. Forest-looking towns look the best in my opinion.

I love my paths n-n it took a while to do so yea...I don't like the natural look since it looks kinda boring and bland to me :\

I used to change my paths so much, but now I restarted my town & became so lazy to set down paths..

I I see everyone talking about main and second town. Do u have to have two separate games to so that's? Or can u do it on one game?

I tried paths but I just didn't like how they cluttered up the town. I have seen paths in other towns that look really nice, but I just don't have the patience to make something like those.

I use paths, only because I think they make my town look more organized. However, I didn't always play the game this way. I didn't start using paths until New Leaf came out, so all my previous towns on City Folk and Wild World were completely natural. I think you should just keep your town natural if that's what makes you happy. There is no right or wrong way to play the game, so if you like the natural theme then I say go for it. :)

I have never attempted to work with paths in any of my towns. I lack the artistic talent to make them, so I'd have to find some QR codes. While I have never bothered to search for them, they do seem really appealing. I hate the look of grass erosion and would love to cover the ugly, barren patches of dirt with something.

I think it's an inevitability that I will use some. I really like the Bus Stop Public Works Project but have no idea where I could put it that would look halfway decent without some sort of path laid down.

I dont have paths. I actually prefer the look of dirt just worn down look, personally. I find it more natural. But then, my whole town is just not very planned. :)

I don't use paths at all. I'm just planning to fill my entire town with flowers and let the people who visit use the map xD. People have different preferences though. For me, it looks really weird if the grass is different shades.

I don't use paths and also prefer the natural look. One thing I do need to do though is to add more flowers to reduce the amount of grass erosion.

I always kinds wanted to use paths... but I just despise how blocky they look. The straight look may work for some towns, but my "walkways" (which are defined by flowers) are all curvy and stuff. So, I would have to say I prefer the natural look. If only there was some way to curve the paths (without using a hundred different patterns) then perhaps I'd use them.

I'm so indecisive about this. I love the natural look of having no paths or having a dirt path with flower guides but I feel like my town is undeveloped that way. At the same time with paths I feel like dream towns and tumblr influence me to have paths but then I feel restricted and I get to a point where I don't know what to do with the areas that aren't paths. My goal isn't to create a dream town because realistically I don't think I'll ever come close to completing one.

Why don't you just do what you want with your town? You said you don't use the whole dream town aspect of the game, so there shouldn't be a problem with people not knowing where to go. You also don't even need paths to fix that problem anyway. Some good landscaping, like making paths with bushes, trees, and flowers is a good enough indication of where you'd want people to walk.

I personally love paths. You just have to find ones that suit your town, and you just have to lay them out nicely. I guess that's easier said than done, but it comes with practice and experience (e.g., seeing other people's towns and perhaps, finding something you like). I was also a no-path town when I first started, but gradually changed as I saw what people have done with paths. It was actually really fun working with paths, trying to figure out how to work them in certain areas. The creative process is great~ I definitely prefer my town as it is with paths than it would be with none.

Always go with what makes the game most enjoyable for you!

I like paths in moderation, not too many. Stuff that's 90% paths sometimes looks cool, but eh, I like the natural designs too.
