Pokémon Going about catching them ALL

Ideally, I mean ALL of the currently existing Pokemon, but I may skip over some event-only Pokemon and nab them as they come out this year.

Has anyone here done it? If so, how did you go about it? Mostly catching? Mostly trading? Possibly even Wonder Trading? Haha.

I'm going for having every single evolution, so I have to have Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, for example.

I'm catching everything I can in ORAS (specifically AS). Unfortunately, I had to sell my copy of X for financial reasons a while back, but I might re-purchase it when I get my tax refund. Anything that I can evolve without using a stone, I'll be trying to evolve as well. I also have a ton of 5 IV and some 6 IV Pokemon that make it easy to trade for things I need so far, so we'll see. Currently working on completing Generation 1, and I have about 300+ different Pokemon caught total. This is going to be a trip.

The only time I ever dare ask for a legendary when I have a non-legendary is when I'm trading a 6 IV extra. Breeding for shinies gives me a lot of ridiculous extras...

EDIT: Just found my second 6 IV Ralts. I don't think the shiny came out with 6 IVs but whatever, I suppose.

Well, I don't need those for the shiny charm I'm pretty sure, though I have my legit Meloetta, and I will try to trade for the other.

You are correct that you do not need event legendary Pokemon to get the Shiny Charm. You need everything else. Event legendaries only really matter if you care about completing the Pokedex in its entirety. If it doesn't bother you overly much, you could just wait for the Genesect distribution later this year and save yourself having to trade away something valuable.

Well, I do have a few extras of things, and I keep accidentally popping 6 IV Pokemon out in my quest to get a 5 or 6 IV shiny of the ones I really want, so it's not too much of a dent if I trade off.

Update, I suppose!

I managed to re-purchase Pokemon X now that I have more of a budget to work with, at least for a few months. Yay!
The Safari feature will come in handy once I beat the Elite Four and Champion again. I'm really looking forward to it. Despite feeling rather short, X and Y have one of my favorite settings.
