giving a villager something they already have?

heyo!

marshal's birthday is coming up, and i had an aqua polka tee i was gonna give him since aqua is his favorite color, but he literally asked to trade for it right as i got it. i didn't wanna decline since i'm trying to get his picture, so i let him have it, but now i have no gift he'd like. could i just reorder the tee and give it to him as a gift? he's currently wearing the shirt so idk if he would accept another one. if he wouldn't like it, what should i get him? i think the princess dress (ornate and aqua, his favorites) would be good, but i doubt i'll get lucky with the able sisters rng before the 29th.

It's been a while but if I remember right if you give a villager something they already have for their birthday,they'll mention that they already have it but they'll still be appreciative and won't refuse the gift.I'm not sure how that affects your friendship level with the villager.I use Thonky's guide(the link above)when decicing what to get a villager for their birthday.

The villager has their first tier choice of gifts according to color and theme, and their second tier which falls under one of those qualifications. Either tier will please the villager having their birthday. If I recall, Marshal has a fairly large catalog of gifts he likes. I think most of them are Gracie or other specialty furniture, but he does love the striped furniture since it falls under his favorite color. As long as you give him something aqua in color, I am pretty sure he will love it
