Getting creative with STUMPS?

Yes, stumps. Tree stumps. Big stumps, little stumps. All of em.
So unfortunately I discovered you can't plant a tree next to a stump as I was going for a stump-gate type of look. A row of baby stumps next to eachother, sort of like an earthy path? I was very let down. I've seen it before so I thought you could now my question is can that only be obtained through hacks because if so; I don't want to hack.

However I'm going with a very natural themed town using no patterns as paths and was wondering what I can do with stumps, what kind of other plants make stumps, and ideas that would look good for a guided path way type of deal. Or where at in town would a stump look nice as a secret little hide out type of way? Very foresty themed for reference.

Kind of weird question I hope I could make some sense of it. ;-)

If you want some cute stumps, you could always cut down trees with a silver axe. Doing that will put a little design atop the tree stump. Bamboo shoots also make stumps, but they can't have designs. For a path of stumps, I'd recommend doing a mixture of big, full-grown stumps and little baby ones. <3 It is also possible to do a bush-stump-bush-stump pattern without leaving any space in between. This could also be pretty good to line paths. Hope this helps! ^^

Yeah!!! I had a duh moment when I remembered bushes have stumps too, but thanks for the ideas ;-) I'll definitely take them into consideration!

Maybe use bamboo and cut it? and do natural dirt paths with the stumps as well

Maybe center an area of flowers around a stump, like it's a special place of unity and peace

you can also cut the trees down at different levels of growth for variety

I personally will do stumps and shrubs and stumps and shrubs to create paths within my town but it might be hard to get them stumps if your town is pretty new.

Yeah! Try it sometime. There are 3/4 different stages I believe. The full grown ones can have patterns.

Is there any way to move stumps around, or they're only sitting where the sapling/fruit is planted?
