Ok so I may be going to Walmart in a few hours to get and NFC reader and possibly some amiibos or amiibo cards, I AM PUMPEDDDD! I hope I'll be able to get some cards or amiibos today, not sure if I will but I'd like to at least have a reader for when I do! Any suggestions on which card series or amiibo figures I should get? I wish the welcome amiibo cards were out here because I am dying for Billy and ketchup but alas they aren't out in NA yet haha hopefully I'll be able to get those when they're out or for Christmas anyway that's off topic! So any suggestions?*^* *shakes DS for play coins to play Dessert island escape while I wait for responses because I'm too lazy to walk around lol*
Are you a fan of any of the other Nintendo franchises besides ACNL and are you interested in scanning in amiibos specifically for ACNL? I'd say that any amiibo that has ACNL compatibility would be a good option, such as the Monster Hunter one, Splatoon, or any of the ones from the ACNL series.
Alternatively, you could look at what items the amiibos would give you if that's what you're interested in? So if you like all of Blather's items but none of Mabel's, pick Blathers over Mabel. Or you want to sell amiibo items for TBT, Celeste, Lottie, or an Isabelle might be a good option as their items seem to be quite popular.
As for card series, if you can pick up more than one pack, get some from more than one series! Pick the series with the most villagers you might like and maybe buy a pack of that one. Personally, I'm waiting for December 2 to pick up the new RV ones, as they've not come out in my country yet.
I wasn't able to get a reader today because they didn't have the, but I got an amiibo! I got.... DIGBY!!! The precious cinnamon roll! Hopefully I'll be ordering a reader soon! And then I'll save up for cards for when he welcome amiibo cards come out!
Ah yeah the Walmart I went to had like nothing except some Mario and Kirby amiibos which aren't compatible and a wolf link that came with a wii-u game but I don't have wii-u and a pack with Digby and Isabelle but it again came with a wii-u game, target was out of the cards but had quite a few figures so I got Digby XD
Yeah that's how all the walmart and targets seemed to be today. I was lucky to find one that had a lot of amiibos. Mostly mario and other stuff but saw the ink splatoon ones so got one haha. Then got lucky that the other walmart had tons of cards but really no amiibos basically. Look around and have fun
Yeah I was pretty excited to see that the target I went to had a lot of animal crossing amiibos! Because online it said some of them were out of stock but there were a few left, kicks was supposed to be totally out of stock but one was left and resetti wasn't supposed to be in till tomorrow but they had a ton of him XD and Digby was listed as limited stock which was true as only two were left so I'm glad I got one in time *^*

Also I just ordered an NFC reader from target online so I'm pretty excited about that, I can finally join the amiibo hype for real*^*
Ah depends where you get them, based on targets site they have them for 19.99, Walmart said 22.51, and eBay was a bit more, I think GameStop was like 25 but I'm not sure
I got a 3 pack containing Cyrus, Reese and K.K. I recommend that, simply because it's a great price. $17 for three figures. K.K. has cool looking stuff, while Reese is on the cuter side. I haven't tried Cyrus yet, but I'm excited for it!
I recently got a reader and have purchased 3 series 1 packs since they were on sale for 3.99 from the usual 5.99. Haven't realy gotten any chars I like but series 1 also happens to have the villagers I like the most T_T Actually gonna go out and buy 2 more packs along with an Isabelle winter outfit amiibo figure tomorrow! Im hooked on acnl lol

If you are a fan of LOZ or splatoon, you would probably love the new special villagers that can move into your town. So any LOZ amiibo, Maria/Callie and squid are great choices. I think those amiibos are particularly worth it was you get items and villagers
There's a lot of great AC amiibos though. My favourites are Isabelle, Lottie, Tom Nook and T&T
