Getting a Villager to come to my Town from a friend's

Morning all! Yesterday, I visited a friend's town which is on a copy of new leaf that is no longer used. When I visited, I noticed she had Marshal, and seeing an opportunity, I checked if it was okay to take him back to my town. I know I currently have a space in my town as Timbra moved out of my town last week. I talked to Marshal three times - is this going to be enough to get him to move or is there anything else I can do to increase the probability of him moving?

If Marshal is not in your town, you can do nothing to get him to move. There are cycling methods available online and on the forum for your friend to use in order to get Marshal in boxes. Marshal cannot move if he is the most recent villager to move into the town. (I have hears rumours that it is possible, but it is extremely rare.)

The only way to guarantee Marshal will move to your town is if he is in boxes at your friend's town, and you go to his house and invite him to your town. You talking to him will not increase the probability of him moving or the probability of him moving to your town(except for things like picking up from void and streetpass, which are fnot guaranteed nor the safest way to pick up a villager).
