Getting 5 star island?

I'm trying to get a 5 star island, I currently have a 4 star, Isabelle told me that I had too many trees, but main reason is that its lacking scenery aka I need to decorate more. But I'm wondering if me having "too many trees" can stop me from getting the 5 stars? Even if I decorate more. I don't think I have too many trees at all so I'm a bit worried how I'm gonna do the rest of the island with no trees if it's like this.. does anyone know?


EDIT: I've done a lot of testing, looks like if Isabelle tells you there is too many trees on your island, it stops you from getting the 5 star rating, no matter how much decor, fences and flowers you have.. so that sucks but at least now we know.

I have paid no attention to my island score so far, but my best guess is that the island rating works on a mechanic similar to past games where the number of trees and flowers were calculated by acre? Perhaps you have too many trees in one acre and its throwing off and average or something? This is a complete stab in the dark though, I havent the slightest clue how island rating works

Maybe. I think I'm gonna try to throw out as much furniture and fences as possible, and see if the tree thing is still affecting it.. I have 2 areas on my island so far that is basically a forest of evergreen trees, so maybe it is calculated by acre
