To all the anime collectors here at TBT, I'm pretty sure you know who Geneon Entertainment USA is. It looks like the termination of the proposed alliance with ADV Films was the final straw that drove them out of the business. Here's the link to the news.

It's a shame that Geneon has to leave the market like this. Heck, we even thought that CPM would be gone first (although that's more a matter of when than if). Anime fans all over the place are pretty bummed that several series are left in limbo now: Rozen Maiden Traumend, Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, Higurashi no naku koro ni, Shonen Onmyouji, Shana OVA, among others.

If you have some uncompleted series from Geneon, this is probably a good time to start looking for those DVDs before they become unavailable (although, you might want to wait a bit to see if there are liquidation sales, just in case).

Woah, for a minute I thought it read "Gainax". 0_0;;;;;;
OH MY GOD! If it had been Gainax, I would have been depressed for a loooooooooong time. It's my favorite anime studio (I'm guessing it's yours too, given that you also love Evangelion).

Yeah, it's definitely my favorite studio. I would be bummed for all eternity if they kicked the bucket. :\

Well, if anyone needs it, you can PM me for the anime import site I use. It doesn't really matter what region DVD player you have, because most of them are region free. It also doesn't matter if you prefer subtitles or English dubbing, because most Japanese DVDs have both. It also has good prices, but be aware that these DVDs are generally the bare bones releases with zero extras.

And just so everyone knows, I thought the best Gainax anime was FLCL.

I thought FLCL was great, but it's not in my Top 3 of the studio. That distinction goes to: Evangelion, Gunbuster and Royal Space Force (with special mentions to Otaku no Video and Karekano).

I like FLCL because there's nothing else quite like it.

Yeah, that's true. FLCL is way too insane!

That's what I thought was great about it! I've only even seen one other that even comes close, but I can't remember what it was called. Anyway, it came later and it was basically just an FLCL wannabe.
