Splatoon Game isn't loading

My game has been stuck on the title screen for about ten minutes. I'm scared.
It won't let me go back to the home menu or anything. If I turn off the console, which seems to be the only thing I can do to get around this, will my game corrupt? I don't want to lose all of my gear, levels, rank, and completed story mode.

This happened to me with Mario Kart 8 before. It never loaded iirc so I had to just shut off the console. I didn't lose anything though since it wasn't saving or anything. When I pulled out the disc it had some kind of spot on it. Once I cleaned it off everything worked fine. Check your disc- it might have a smudge or spot on it that's preventing things from loading.

Thanks. This happened to me with Super Mario 3D World once and when I turned off these black lines appeared on the screen that made it look seriously corrupted, and I hadn't gone back to the game since because I was dreading seeing the "your game was corrupted" message. Good to know that won't happen.
