Game is corupt. I need help.

I was playing an alt character, then saved and went to play my main character when the game said it was corupt. It gave me an option to find the corruption so I clicked on it. It took a few minutes to search, then it said corruption was detected. I went online and Googled my problem. Someone on Reddit had the same problem and was told to redownload. They said it would not erase the game. So I redownloaded, but after about 20 minutes, it stopped because of coruption. I'm on my third time trying, and I'm certain it will happen this time too. Problem is, it takes over 2 hours to redownload, so here I sit, waiting to see if it will stop downloading a third time.

I'm hoping someone on here knows about this and can help.

On a side note, I don't dupe or hack anything. Not sure if that matters, but thought I would mention it.

Do you have island backup enabled? If you do, maybe you can contact Nintendo and get a backup from before your save corrupted.

It's a digital copy correct? If you are able to, try to redownload the game once more. If that keeps not working out, you might want to call up Nintendo support. Though if it is a save file corruption and not to do with the game's file being messed up itself, not sure what can be done if you haven't set backup to enabled.

For future reference, to enable back up you have to press the minus button on the title screen. There will be three options available and one of them is enabling backup saves, just follow Tom Nook's instructions from there.

Hope you can get it fixed soon.

Thanks so much for your help. It's downloading now and has an hour and a half left. So far so good, because the first two times didn't work. I will definitely enable the back up save.

Thanks to everyone who posted. It's much appreciated. I've put over 1000 hours into the game. Fingers crossed that it's not lost.

It finished redownloading. I played for a few minutes, and it seemed fine. Hopefully it won't happen again, because a lot of people online had this problem and they all said it just keeps happening. Some even daily.
