Game getting laggier?

I didn't play for quite some time before the Update and thought it was odd that it was lagging so much now, but since I hadn't played in a while I guessed that it was just false in my memory and was always like that. But I guess I'm not the only one now thinking that it's a lot more lagging, while not changing anything :(

For me it was getting slightly laggy, though it wasn't always noticeable. It was worse when it was windy, so a few days ago I dug up a bunch of flowers that had been spreading across an area, and on top of that I also tried to revise areas I had previously made to use less furniture while still looking basically the same. Both of those seem to have helped, so that may be worth a try?

I don't think this is update related as much as it is the island naturally getting fuller with plants and furniture as time goes on and more stuff gets added. (Those fully decorated islands were already painful a few months after the game launched!) It'd be lovely if we could fill every tile of the island without worrying about lag, but I'm afraid the Switch was never going to be powerful enough for that...

My island is the same as it was before the update. It doesn’t lag much except I have one picnic basket that sometimes pops in when I walk close to it.

I’m lagging a lot more than it used to if it’s windy at all with areas that have looked the same since like Nov last year. I’ve even gutted a lot of flowers and such to try to help it but it didn’t make much of an impact.
I would be less annoyed if I over decorated but these areas haven’t changed 😢

Definitely lagging more than I used to, but also because my island is a lot more full. I have to get rid of a lot of flowers and gyroids everywhere probably isn't helping.

Yeah it's as laggy as it always had been for me...although I recently tore don my island so everything is god again, lol

My loading screen takes longer but the lag is about the same, then again, my island isn't very decorated.

When you say the areas where you're getting lag don't have a lot of items, are you counting trees, flowers, etc.?

I've noticed lag lately whenever I run, and I never had lag before. It's a little frustrating, but I'm hoping it's just a glitch...or patchy wifi.

Yep. I never had lag in those areas and now suddenly I do

Yes, my island lags more post-update, with few changes made item-wise. It is generally when there is weather— heavy winds, rain, etc. This was my great fear with 2.0– little to no optimization, despite adding features. That said, an optimization update could probably slip in without being a “major update” that Nintendo has foresworn— just look at the bug fix that came out earlier this week.

I just noticed the same thing today.
My island seems to lag a lot more since the update even if I don't have so much more new items placed except some gyroids 🤔

Lag is actually a lot better for me.
The pop in on the otherhand is more noticeable

Unsure if its an improvement or not

My loading screens are def longer for some reason even tho I just got a brand new switch a few days ago

Yes I have noticed the lag but that was before the 2.0 update. I think it's because my island is almost fully decorated. It's most notable on the right side, at a few specific areas, and especially if I'm running.

The left side by the Plaza, I just noticed that sometimes the decorations will load / pop up when I walk towards it. This usually happens once and it is OK after the initial load.

I wonder if Nintendo will do something about these lags?

Before I reorganized my island, it wasn't fully decorated but I have never experience any lag.

Mine as well, though I have noticed that for quite some time already. 🤔
