My perfect fruit trees have died (leaves fell off) and I wonder if the same happens to normal fruit trees because I havent seen it happen

I'm about 99% sure that it can't happen to normal trees, as I've been playing for almost a year and it has never happened to my normal trees. I think the perfect trees die because they are a better source of money so having them die presents more challenges.

Normal trees do not die whereas trees that bear perfect fruit die once you've shaken them around 7-8 times. You just have to cut them down with an axe and plant another perfect fruit (the one that is native to your town; otherwise, it'll grow as a normal fruit tree). Then you can plant the rotten fruit elsewhere and use the shovel once again so that you destroy it and don't have to pay to Reese in order for her to get rid of that rotten fruit.

Not sure my perfect fruit trees last as long as 7 to 8 times (I wish they would) - it is partly random - I think my average time they last is 4 to 5 times, maybe 6.
I knew you could bury the rotten fruit and dig up, but I just put them in a trash can - have one garbage pail/whatever in an alt house and all my characters use that.
All other trees/palms remain alive (so long as they grow in the first place).

it's just for perfect fruits, though you can replant when they die, that's what I did when I harvested them. Dead trees can look nice in landscaping depending on the town theme - I plan on having some in my haunted town :)

It is just the perfect trees that die, but they sound funny when you shake them so I decided to keep one in my town. I also have a rotten fruit collection just because I like to collect the random useless items.
