For those curious about the numbers, I counted how many tables, beds etc were in each game to compare to NH

A lot of us are really feeling there are very limited options for choosing beds, tables, sofas and some of us still haven't even seen a good kitchen item. Well, I'm a big dork and went through and counted items starting at Population Growing and separated them as beds, tables 1x1, tables 1x2, etc. and made a spreadsheet. Before all the counting I had already gone through to compare and see what furniture series is completely missing, what is kinda still in the game and speculated a bit whether I think it could return. Not sure if anyone here is really as interested in the numbers as I am, but I'll share them anyway.

Now, to make a note here, tables and counters includes pretty much anything that can place an item on it, including the outdoor tables. Beds include sleeping bags and hammocks and stuff. And it also includes the cardboard and bunny day stuff, so while the number may not seem too low take into account some of the things that are technically beds, tables, etc. might not actually be viable for indoor decorating. Unless you're into using eggs or cardboard as a bed. No judgments. ^_^ Maybe if my eyes recover from the counting and inputting into excel, I might try to recount and better sort things.

Lol the "don't want this back" part made me laugh but tbh I like the balloon furniture, if only because it fit the aesthetic of one of my NL characters perfectly! I think it was mostly annoying because until WA it was the only thing that was in balloons and wasn't useful to most people, but tbh I wouldn't mind if it was added to the balloon pool now that they can have so much other stuff in them.
Also wanna say I'm sad that the rattan set is missing a piece similar to the cabana bookshelf (and also the floor lamp, and probably a couple of others) and the cute set is not only missing various things but only has a version that's white with pink & red accents instead of the main color actually being pink the way the old lovely set is, though... I mean seriously, the white wardrobe is only accented by 3 tiny red spots and there's not even a cute pink wall and flooring! But more on topic, this is really interesting and I'm glad to know we weren't all just being stupid, there really is less to choose from! Well, I suppose there are 4 more toilets at least But anyway, thank you for collecting this data!

I say as one of my rooms in NL is literally the entire balloon series.
I just missed getting random furniture from the sky.

Anyway, this is really cool to look at. I'm excited to see what more they bring us (if they do)

Haha That was mostly a joke with me and my husband we were very relieved to not be bombarded by the balloon furniture. Plus I have a fear of balloons so never liked the set. lol

Oh yea, I loved the Cabana bookshelf, floor lamp, screen and I loved the glass in the low table. Oh yea, the cute set. I've never been into the Lovely Series, pink is way not my colour, but I was really sad to see such a drastic change. I was also really sad the Classic set lost its sofa...I mean, we could really use more sofas in the game, why was it taken out? lol When I started it, I was like, I feel like I've seen an awful lot of toilets compared to previous games, and I was right! xD

Yea, I love popping balloons now! And yea! I'm hopeful we see a return of most stuff, I feel pretty good about Gracie sets (so yay Princess), but Rococo and Sleek were two of my favs

they were an EYESORE i absolutely dreaded every time i would pop a balloon (but i would continuously do it bc i would hope some other piece of furniture might miraculously show up) !! thank you for the data by the way, it's interesting to see the chasm between NL/WA and NH! i'm really hoping for a return of the sloppy, princess, regal, and minimalist.

Wow, this is amazing. It must have taken you so long to compile this data! Looking at the comparison between NL(+WA) and NH makes it fairly obvious why we all feel it's so lacking in furniture variety I really, truly hope more old furniture will be released with future updates and not just event stuff like the gigantic Bunny Day collection.

honestly, thank you for going through all of this to give us an overview! as it stands right now, the selection of furniture seems to be a bit meager, especially compared to the clothes we have, that just went off the rails i feel. here's hoping nintendo actually plans on adding sets like the alpine one in future updates - it was my favorite in NL and I'd hate to see it go again.

also speaking of which: any chances the mermaid set could potentially be the shell set now? it's a bit of stretch, but it seems to be the closest we have and from what i remember the mermaid set did have a lot of shells and sea-related things incorporated in its design.

yeah i get that! If you're not sure theyre even gonna be aded i can totally understand why people would be upset and impatient, even i am a little, im just trying to stay positive and hope that at least some furniture will be added later.

is there even a new furniture that resembles it or could be its replacement? kinda curious what muffy's house looks like now. my 2nd floor (acnl house) was inspired by that theme.

there's antique furniture that looks pretty nice but there's no couch/sofa or stuff like that i don't think, just dressers and vanities and such

and holy crap, I didn't realise just how much stuff was added in Welcome Amiibo. I thought it was mainly just splatoon and monster hunter stuff but apparently they like doubled the game's content with that update. that makes me hopeful for the future of NH as it shows that the devs clearly aren't shy to give us masses of content via updates

seconding this, as well as the fact that NH has a lot more players starting off than NL as well as the promised free updates (which assumingly only meant holiday events, but surely they're thinking of other things too??)

This is really interesting! The amount of content seems pretty similar to the first 3 games, which I would not have guessed. I've never felt furniture was limited until this game, but I guess that's because I played so much NL, which had WAY more than usual.

It is weird that the gap between NL and NH is so big, especially considering how much more the Switch can handle. I feel like they needed another year, and furniture sets were the sacrifice made to get it out on time. Since they only had time to put in a small amount of furniture, they chose a bunch of simple items that everyone can find use for, instead of themed items that are less versatile.

Also: there are only TWO bookshelves but there's SEVEN varieties of toilets?? No wonder I can't find anything to put in my library
