flower hybrid

how does the flower hybrid thing work, can anybody whose had a successfull hybrid tell

I got two hybrids already and I wasn't even trying to. I covered an entire open area at the edge of the top of the hill with red, white and yellow flowers, randomly placed, and got an orange rose and a blue pansy. The funny thing is that the hybrid flowers appeared at the bottom of the hill in the south part of town.

Mostly orange pansies

red cosmos planted next to WHITE COSMOS may produce pink cosmos.
make sense?
