Flirty villagers : i have a theory !!!

YOUGUYS. I have a theory.

Have any of u ever felt like a villager was being flirty with you? I know it?s awkward but I know we?ve all felt at some point they were!

I was reading up about it and everyone seems to think it?s usually smug personalities, & that it?s randomizes since a villager can be flirty to one player but not the other, etc.

well I have a smug villager and they?re not really flirty with me (marshal), BUT I have a lazy villager punchy who seems to be more flirty with me.

Well, if you look at any villagers? wiki you can see their birthday along with their zodiac sign.

The game asks for your birthday early on, and you can see your zodiac sign in your TPC.

So the game is aware of both of the villagers zodiac sign and YOUR zodiac sign,

Which makes me wonder if that plays a role in whether or not a villager will flirt with you..?

Because! Punchy is an Aries, I?m a Sagittarius; we are compatible.

In my last save file, Hans was really flirty with me; he?s a Sagittarius we?re also compatible.

Usually games don?t add features or little things like that for no reason.. plus the lovely phone tells you your horoscope
I wonder if this has to do with anything, but to me it?s fun to think about !!

Interesting theory for sure! I always assumed all villagers of a personality type had the same dialogue, and that it was just up to chance whether a certain line came up or not. I likely won’t be playing New Leaf again for now, but once I start NH I’ll try paying attention to it.

I mostly ignore the flirting because the whole idea of an animal flirting with a human is super awkward to me, but I might start to pay attention now

It’s very, very mild from what I’ve seen. Mainly I’ve noticed it (as a female Player, if that makes a difference) with the Smug Villagers. Very easy to miss, and not anywhere near creepy imo.

I think whether or not people are uncomfortable with it depends mostly on how they view the Villagers. To me, they are on a similar level as the Player character—they’re more “people” than animals. Us humans are just another species of “Animal” in the AC world.

For me, it isn't to do with the fact that that they're aren't equal to the the player character. It's more to do with that fact that they're talking and walking animals. Like, I didn't ask to get flirted with by a sentient, technicolor frog. But, hey, that's just me

I think I’m so used to real people I have no interest in flirting with me that I didn’t even consider that. I don’t mind being casually flirty with others, as long as they don’t expect more. Guess I don’t distinguish between frogs and men xD

Interesting. This little detail about horoscopes can play a role in having a villager flirting with you. I'm a virgo and I have Tipper in my town who gives me compliments every once in a while. In fact, she was blushing and had no idea to why she said those things. Little details like that makes me smile even though not many people take note of it.

Honestly that could be a thing they subtly included.. I?m saying that because they included the zodiac series! I never even thought to look up what zodiac signs the different villagers are. However, the only villager I?ve ever had flirt with me is Quillson and he?s a smug villager. I may believe this more if I start paying attention to it and see a pattern!

Woah. I remember back when I first started playing, Rowan seemed to have like a crush on my character. He's Virgo and I'm Pisces so we're semi compatible. Sadly he moved out

I don't really know how zodiac signs are supposed to work, but W. Link has been acting pretty weird and we have the same zodiac sign. Some of it might just be his Smug personality, but all the times he randomly talks about my eyes (Like getting distracted by them or wishing his were like mine.) don't seem normal.

To be honest, at some point, I stopped paying attention of what my villagers saying to me, since they
repeating their dialogue anyway, but I did noticed here and there when a villager kinda flirt with me
(which I found more weird than cute). I thought it's the personality but the zodiac signs could also
be possible (although I absolutely don't know how this would thing with the zodiac signs works).

Very interesting. I'd like something subtle like this to have been added. It makes conversations more fun/funny in my opinion.
I'll have to pay more attention to what they say now.
