First Manga - Nostalgic Or Dreadful?

Lots of people dislike their first mangas, simply because it's different than american books and not something they're used to. What I wanna know is - did you enjoy the first manga you ever read (or attempted to) or does it stick out in your mind positively? Include the name!

My first manga was the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and yes, I hated it but only because the anime was so epic the manga couldn't live up to it.

I enjoyed the first manga I read, which was Naruto. My second was Death Note.

The Fullmetal Alchemist manga was started but it stopped after 3 volumes because the anime was starting. After the anime ended, the writer restarted the manga and changed the plot so that it wasn't the same thing as the anime. Too bad it just wasn't nearly as good as the anime.

edit: Also, not all anime are based on manga, the majority are but a few of them aren't.
