Pokémon Finding shiny Pokemon in hordes?

I recently went back to Pok?mon Y to try and find some different shinies. I read somewhere that you could encounter shiny Pok?mon in hordes. I have the shiny charm so I thought I would give it a try. After about 8-9 hordes one contained a shiny vanillite. Has anyone else found shinies this way? And were you using the shiny charm or not. I just wondered whether it makes that much of a difference or is it just luck based.

Complete the National Dex, excluding events, and talk to Sycamore and Birch.

But yes. I found a Mime Jr and Nosepass in one.

I never found a shiny in a hoard, but my friend found a shiny Seviper in a Zangoose hoard. Poor Seviper.

I've found a TON, I sometimes just sweet scent hoards to look for shinies, others I've found by accident while EV training. I've gotten 2x Gulpin, 2x Hoppip, 2x Spinda, Murkrow, Oddish, Mareep, Swablu, Sandshrew, Electrike and more

You're much more likely to get a shiny in a horde simply because you're encountering 5 Pokemon at once, so you're 5x more likely to get one that is shiny. The shiny charm helps even more though!

I've found lots of shiny Pok?mon in hordes! If you have the shiny charm, the chance of encountering a shiny is, 1 in 1000 and since always 5 Pok?mon appear at once in hordes, every 200th horde should contain a shiny

I don't, but I've seen plenty of people who have. Just watch out for Seviper/Zangoose hoards, I've seen people who have gotten their shiny killed because it was the opposite of the rest of the hoard.
