I finally completed Pokemon Y (by complete I mean beat the Elite Four + Champion) and I have to say that it was quite enjoyable. I'm probably putting it up there on my list of favorite Pokemon titles.

My only gripe is that it was waaay too easy, this is probably due to the Exp. Share affecting your entire party. While this is quite handy and useful for training purposes, it severely cuts out some gametime. The way I used to play Pokemon in other games was each time I reached a new route, I would grind out 3-4 levels to prepare for the challenges ahead. With Y, I didn't have to do that AT ALL.

This is the party I completed the game with:

Luxray - LV 77
Scrafty - LV 80
Altaria - LV 96
Spiritomb - LV 74
Greninja - LV 71
Delphox - LV 79

As you can see, my party's levels are a bit unbalanced. Perhaps natures affect EXP gain somehow? I had 2 Lucky Eggs and all of them were traded for, so everyone of them had the boosted EXP bonus. Don't even ask me how Altaria got so high above the others, I only used it in about 5 battles total throughout the entire game, one of them being the Dragon Elite Four trainer. Spiritomb was rarely used as well, but when I had to use him it was quite handy to have. Scrafty and Luxray were probably the most used.

What I enjoyed most about Y was the story. That part at the very end where you battle that one particular trainer...I shed a few tears of joy for him afterwards. I have never got so emotionally invested in a Pokemon game before. /tips hat to Nintendo. Great jobs guys!

Going to try and work on the post-game content now, and maybe even buy Alpha Sapphire now. If it's anythign like Y or the original R/S/E, I think I'll love it too.

each pokemon has a different amount of exp required to level up, with bug pokemon and NFEs being extremely easy, and bulky powerful pokemon like Agron being considerably hard.

If you thought X/Y was easy, ORAS will be nothing lol. I finished ORAS in like 4 days and ended up hating it, so I just sold it off and kept my copy of X. It was just not the game for me at all.

Personally I think ORAS was more for the old-time fans of Pokemon. Pokemon emerald is very different in comparison to XY, so there was bound to be a large number of people feeling disappointed w/ the remake.

I loved it. Gen 3 used to be my favourite until Gen 5 came around.

I still think that the new exp share makes ur party too OP for the rivalling trainers

Pokemon Y is my all time favorite Pokemon game. I was also late finishing it myself since I only got it during that deal where it was free on Club Nintendo. I think I've invested more time in this game than any Pokemon game. I wasn't too impressed with Omega Ruby. I only invested around 20 hours into it.

It's definitely a little more challenging with the exp share turned off, but X/Y is still the easiest set of games I've ever played (though, they also dumbed down ORAS as well, which I'm not too happy with. I would have preferred the remake to keep the difficulty level of Emerald).

Still, it's nice for an easy, laid-back adventure which can be completed in a couple of hours. If you want to add a challenge to it, try doing a nuzlocke (or a variant of a nuzlocke).

My first run of X/Y was a blindlocke (nuzlocke rules + no guides or spoilers), and I don't think I had a single pokemon go down. My nuzlocke run went about the same way. I had to apply special restrictions on the exp share, using healing items in battle, etc, in order to get a true challenge out of it.
That, and my current Y WonderWedlocke is the most challenging run I've had yet.

So, yea...X/Y are the sort of games which is far too easy without any sort of restrictions or additional rules. I've been playing Pokemon since R/B/Y, and can say without a doubt that it's the easiest set of games (without any additional rules).
