So I don't know if it's just me but I like never feel like actually going to the movies to see a movie. I mean it's fun every once in a while, but nowadays when I see a preview for a movie, even if it's a good movie that I want to see, I don't feel like I have to go see it in theaters.

When I was younger I remember being so excited to go to the movies to go see films as they just came out and stuff, now I'm just like "Oh that looks like a neat movie, I might rent it when it comes out on DVD." Maybe it's because I'm quite a distance from the theater but I just never have that feeling of wanting to see it on the big screen.

Now don't get me wrong there are a few movies that I feel would be better in a theater, but usually those movies are ones I would want to watch in IMAX or XXD or something and that I never really get to do, I've been maybe 4 times cause it's really REALLY out of the way to go to.

The only times I go to the movies is if someone else suggests it, like it's fun to do as an outing and stuff but I am never the one to initiate it or like ask someone else to go but I'll tag a long for the ride just cause.

So basically the point of this thread is to ask if anybody else has this feeling too? I think maybe it's because it's so easy now to just wait a few months and watch it at home order it on Amazon or Redbox because it's easier and cheaper, but I think it's also because I just don't care as much for the films themselves as I used to, I don't know, maybe I'm weird. There are still plenty of people I know that have to see like every film in the theater but I just, I don't feel that way?

Well, I haven't been to a movie theater in over 7 years, last time I went was when I was.. 9? I remember being all fidgety as a kid and not being able to sit in my seat all the time or always needing to go to the bathroom, stuff that would make me miss parts of the movie. Not only that, but I heard food prices rose to ludicrous levels, so there's another deterrent.

Idek, I still love going to the movies when I can and they screen something cool I wanna check out. Sure I watch a lot online and/or tv or dvd but I really prefer seeing it out so to say. I mostly go to this art/classic one though where they screen obscurities and art stuff mixed with some classics so yeah might be why.

And I prefer going alone too, I hate when people sit beside you and try to talk every minute... it's like we can talk afterwards??

So no basically I prefer to go out and maybe have a munch along with it rather than sit at home.

I don't really bother unless it's a movie I really want to see, otherwise I'll just wait for the retail release. As a timeframe for how little I bother going, the last one I saw in cinema was Deadpool, the one before that I think was Wreck-It-Ralph.

I just don't see the point in paying to watch a movie when chances are there's gonna be idiots talking and playing with their phones for the duration of it, or it's a 'kids movie' where inevitably kids are going to be there being kids. It seems redundant to pay to watch a movie when the first thing I'll think when leaving isn't "wow, that movie was good!" but "wow, I wish those as****s would have shut the f*** up".

I got excited as a kid, but then it felt like if I didn't see it in cinemas it was going to be ages until I could see it at home. Now when it's in cinema, it's like the blu-ray is out a week after it stops being screened. May as well pick that up instead so I can watch it whilst eating food that doesn't cost ?10 and I don't have to listen to douchey teenagers complaining about who said what on Facebook.

I have a few irl friends and I guess they are fun to bring along but yeah tbh I prefer going alone unless they keep shush during the film

i'll only go to the cinema if it's like convenient for me? like idk i'd rather watch a movie with my friends at the cinema but sometimes you just cant you feel so i'll go to the movies every chance i get lol i feel it's a better experience seeing a movie at the theater rather than on your laptop or something

I'd rather just buy it and sit at home instead of going to cinema, but it is quite refreshing going once and a while.

Okay this is me I really don't like going to the theater to see movies

First of all why would I pay like $10+ to see a movie when I could wait a little while and see it for like free
Also the 3D movie craze kills me because I get a terrible headache when things are in 3D so that's not an option
And then there's like no movie I care about enough to see RIGHT AWAY even if it looks good. I think the only exception I made for this was the Hobbit which I saw on like opening day. Worth it

But yeah I totally feel you, going to the theater is pointless imo I prefer watching movies in the comfort of my own home. Well actually I prefer not watching movies at all

I like going but only if I am invited. I never choose to go myself. Why pay for a movie when I can watch it for free less than a month later? Legit, that is my reasoning. As a kid, if you wanted to see a movie, you either saw it in theaters or you had to wait to buy it on DVD, if your parents would agree to buy it for you.

I don't go very often because it's too expensive. I do like going though. The last one I went to was The Jungle Book, and it was great. I'm glad I got to see it on the big screen.

I don't go to the cinema anymore really because there's never anything on that catches my eye. The last time I went was in December to see The Force Awakens. I'll only really go if there's a film that I actually care about watching which doesn't happen often.

I agree. It's a lot easier to watch it at home. Especially since going out to the movies is so expensive. And on Comcast, sometimes you don't even have to wait that long for new movies to be available. But if someone asked me to go, I would.

I don't really enjoy going to the movies anymore. Movies and theater snacks are waaaay overpriced, you have to deal with dumb people on their phones, people talking, crying children/ babies, people kneeing or kicking your seat, and having to pee so damn bad by the end of the movie.

I like going out with my friends, but we don't buy anything since the prices on popcorn and other things are really expensive. My town is really small, so there usually aren't many people in any of the theaters when we do decide to go.

I usually just go to the movies to enjoy myself since I really dislike being at home. I haven't had any problems at my local theatre with kids or talking. Actually it's the same people I recognize from previous visits watching a movie with me. I think the only talking would be sly comments when there's a really corny moment happening and someone blatters out "wtf" to which the theatre laugh. I especially love the crowd when I went to go see Star Wars. When Han Solo died, everyone was gasping.

And for food:

I actually didn't like movies as much when i was a kid compared to now. A new theater opened up and it is gorgeous - it's added to the movie experience for me (recliner leather seats, better speakers, bigger screen). I prefer going to the theater than renting the movie because i don't get that surround sound and pitch blackness. Being immeresed in the story is really great especially for action movies and such (not so much for cartoons).

Always hide and bring your own snacks though - *** is expensive at theaters.
