Lots of people love wolves, tigers, and pandas. As awesome as they are though, are there any animals you like that not many people know about? You mention that animal in conversation but hardly anyone recognizes the name?
These are a few of my favorite animals:

The Saiga Antelope: It has such a cute little nose but unfortunately it is highly endangered due to poaching. :(

The Aye-Aye: A lemur species that is also highly endangered due to superstitious beliefs and deforestation. It is believed to be an omen of death.

The kinkajou is a small, nocturnal, mammal in the same family as the aye-aye. It leaves in S. America and is known for it's long tongue that it uses to drink nectar.

My fav animals are frogs! They might not be *that* unusual, but I've never met another frog fan (unfortunately!). I just find them completely adorable, and sooo interesting. The way most people look at kittens is how I look at frogs, lol ^_^

I'm a fan of anglerfish and find them extremely intriguing. The fact that I can coexist on the same planet with an atrocity such as the anglerfish proves to me that magic exists in this world.
 
They aren't exceptionally rare, but I've always loved Great Blue Herons. When I was younger, I saw one land on the shore of a pond, and it let my siblings and I go fairly close to it with no problem. It was awesome. :D

Some of my faves are:

This is the Vampyroteuthis infernalis as in vampire squid of Hell. It needs no more said about it. Look how rad it is. If I ever die at sea and become a sea ghost I will lead an army of these.

It can break aquarium glass. Read the Oatmeal's article on it. It's rad.

Also here's my fave extinct creature that used to roam the Earth. It is so rad.

Obviously this is a mock up of what it would have looked liked, as we're only got fossils to go on. But seriously google it. It's so awesome.

I love stingrays. Everyone looks at me weird when I say that.
 
I like pretty much all deer and deer-like animals. I like goats, sheep, turkeys, owls, well I really like a lot of animals, so I'll just leave it with that.
