Super Mario Galaxy 2 (not yet released)

The list contains only main series platforming games staring Mario. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is excluded because it's part of the Yoshi series, not Mario series. Remakes and compilations (Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Super Mario Advance, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario 64 DS) are excluded, but you can include them if you want.

Does Yoshi's Island count?

Eh, usually I'd say no, it's not a Mario game really, but since Yoshi's Island doesn't have much of a series anyway, I'll count it.

The Yoshi series does has enough games as a series of its own...

Not as many as the Mario series, of course, but it's a spinoff series of Mario, so that's to be expected. Point is, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is part of the Yoshi series, not the Mario series, so it shouldn't be counted in this poll. Maybe you can make a Yoshi series poll sometime later.
