Since there's not really a section for Arcade games, I'll post it here.

So.... what are your favorite arcade games, and why?

Time Crisis
Every time I go to an arcade, and it has this game, I play it. The light gun is very simple and easy to shoot (unlike the bazookas that some games have.... D:). The step/hide thing is a great idea, since in most games, you shoot to the side to reload, which can kill you too fast. This game is REALLY fun to play on Co-Op, especially if the game's rigged or set up to let you play without money.

DDR
Good music, great gameplay... it wears me out way too much though, which is why I never play it before playing a game of laser tag at UltraZone.

Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
I've beaten this game so many times... and each time, I love it. It really depends on what the system is like at the arcade, they've been known to totally screw this game up. Sometimes it'll be inversed (I always play my games un-inversed), sometimes you can't see the crosshair, sometimes you can't get the crosshair over to a specific part of the area... My favorite level is Hoth. <3

Alien Front
This game is also on the Dreamcast, with online play... but I personally like this version better. I'm amazing at this game, I've done so many around-the-worlds in that game... The AI is pretty good, they actually shoot at you if you get close to them. I have ranks 2, 8 and 10 on the machine at my local arcade, last time I checked.... <.<

Man, I haven't been to the arcade in quite some time... Montana is a pretty bad place for that, but I can list a few from my Seattle days.

Virtual On
Who doesn't like the idea of piloting a giant robot? I really like to play this game against another person, because the AI is kind of easy...or maybe I just played it too much. Anyway, the controls are great too. Dual joysticks just make sense for this kind of game.

The Simpsons
This is the most ridiculous beat-em-up I've ever played, but that's what makes this game stand out from every other beat-em-up out there. I remember a time when it seemed like this was the only kind of game that ever came out, and while I like the genre, it tends to get stale pretty quickly. Basically, it was minty fresh breath in a fart filled room.

House of the Dead
I don't have any clue why I like this game. I pretty much look at it, and a voice in my head screams "ZOMBIES," so I have to play it.

Soul Calibur
This is just may favorite fighting game. Playing it in the arcade means I can make use of multiplayer. They need to make one with online play.

Come down to California. I have like.... two that I can get to in like 10 minutes if I get a ride from someone.

I used to have an arcade near Knollwood Mall in St. Louis Park which had a cool 2D racing game... damn, I played it to death...

Outrun

What's weird about this game is that it was made in 1986, but it was in an arcade near me ten or so years after that. However, if you asked me if I remembered what this game was like four months ago, I would give you a blank stare. However... after taking driver's ed, one of the videos was a stupid video game simulation thingy that showed the dangers of driving a car and how those don't apply to video games. The game they used was Outrun, and the memories came comin' back. I cam THIS short to screaming out "Holy crap, I REMEMBER THIS GAME!" in the class, but decided against that, haha. Anyway.. it wasn't so much a racing game as a driving game, and one of the biggest reasons why I loved it was the music. Soo... awesome... I could ramble about this game for days, but meh.

Dig Dug

Though I never actually played it in the arcade, you gotta admit Dig Dug ranks among the best of the best. Before they decided to call the main character Mr. Driller, the game series was ACTUALLY PRETTY DARN COOL! Especially the first game. Who can forget that insanely awesome music? Wow... the gameplay is so addicting, I'm glad I have that GBA Namco Collection... I replay it really often. It's just one of those games that never ages, and a game even my great grandkids will appreciate... maybe. I hope so, at least.

Well... that's it for now, though I have a bunch more... I'll maybe post them later.

The Dig-Dug music = pwn. The best part of it is when you stop, the music stops as well. It makes me happy.... and hyper.

The dragons and puffball thingies that phased through the walls freaked me out when I was a kid though.

Wow, I have a bunch but they are mostly from the 80's and early 90's.

Props to all who love Dig Dug. I still play this on my GC Namco Museum.

Pac-Man
I used to pwn this game. Now I'm just ok. But he's the one who started the whole "main character" in a game so you've gotta show the love. On a side note, I actually used to play Ms. Pac-Man more, but I wasn't as good at it as I was at Pac-Man.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
This is the one that got ported to the NES as TMNT 2: The Arcade Game. The arcade version was 10x better and a ton of fun if you had 3 friends with you. Of course this was the hey-day of TMNT. The TV show, the action figures, the pepperoni pizza. *sigh* Only once did I ever beat it (with a little help from 2 friends and about $10 in quarters) but it was well worth it.

X-Men
This game was similar in style to the TMNT arcade except that you could be one of around 10 X-men. I was always Nightcrawler. His teleport attack was the best on bosses.

There's plenty more, but I'm too lazy to write any more.

Dig-Dug

For reasons already mentioned, the awesome music and addictive gameplay. And what's more fun than jsut getting a bunch of friends togethor, digging a hole, and using a tire pump to blow up some baddies?

Donkey Kong

Seriously, if it weren't for this game there would be no Mario. Plus, me and my dad always play this on VC and I always cream him.

Ha, I should. I went to the only arcade here in Missoula today only to find that it has closed its doors... Now there's nothing. I was just there the other day, it's crazy.

All awesome and seconded as my most played along with the Simpsons arcade game where I was always Homer. The X-men game was always my fave though, I was always Colossus. I actually beat Magneto once on a freeplay machine but it prob would have cost me like 7 bucks if i was paying! Me and a bunch of friends beat TMNT on a school field trip during a lunch stop over back in middle school! Ah, Nostalgia

I know what you mean, theres nothing in North Georgia. Any arcade games here are stuffed to sides of pizza huts, bowling alleys, and movie theaters.

This reply is a little late...

Yeah, arcades are hard to come by in a lot of places. I think the closest one to me might be in Spokane, Washington. Although there might be one in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Either way, I'm not driving to another state just to play those games...
