Ever met someone from the internet?

I haven't but I wanna met my one friend from this game I play. We have already made plans to move to California and become besties.

Were already facebook friends so it's going great.

Only one person, and they're from TBT. Me and Callie met at a TMBG concert about a year ago.

Yes. Actually in this area, I'm a champ. I used to play a game with a super-active community (Kingdom of Loathing), and I had several very good friends that I have traveled to/had them travel to me over the years. KoL also has meetups throughout North America and the UK. I've gone to the Seattle ones three times now. I was also in a pretty social clan. All of my experiences were really positive. I've found that people are pretty much the same in person as they are online, if you have known them over a long period of time. What I mean, is that you chat online with someone long enough, their real personality shows through at some point. Some people are genuine from the moment you meet them (online), and are consistent over a long period of time. Other people try to pull off a different persona, but it wears away after a while. If you've known this person a long time, and have a good impression of them, you are probably going to have a good time.

It's a brand new way of making friends, this online world. In some ways, you get to know people better through talking with them. While you don't have the physicality of body language, you still have their words up there on your screen, which gives you more time to absorb what they are saying. You also get to express yourself better, thanks to the backspace key. Think of how many times in a face-to-face conversation that you don't say everything you wanted to, or are interupted before you can finish. Here you can edit or refine before posting. I've also found that I can chat more frequently with people online. There are people I spend a few minutes talking to every day. It's easy to follow what is going on in their lives, and let them know what is up with me. I can't think of one offline friend that I get to spend that much time staying in contact with. Sure, when I work on a show, I spend up to 16 hours a day with some friends. But then the show ends and I may not see them for months. Online, I get a chance to maintain a consistent relationship with people from all over the world. It's different, but not less important than the friends I have in Vancouver.

I'm part of a Facebook group where a bunch of people from my area who have 3DSes plan events and we all meet up so we can streetpass and play games. I've met several people from the internet through that group.

im SUPPOSED to meet zr at SOME POINT. I mean I GOTTA! But I've never met anyone irl :/

I don't really think it'd be awkward, unless you're an awkward person to begin with.

Not yet. There's a bunch of people from TBT in the Dallas area that I could actually go and meet up if I wasn't so lazy and adverse to meeting new people. I could even go as far as South Texas, but meh...
woop woop

I haven't yet met up with someone who I have met on the Internet before. Once I'm older I most probably will decide to, but for now I think I'll just communicate on my laptop with people around the world. Also most of the people who I do communicate with live far away from where I am, which is quite a shame.

It's brilliant for what the internet can actually do...

No, I never have met anyone on the internet and I wouldn't want to because it would be awkward.

I met my boyfriend online and we've been living together for about a year and a half now.

The main reason I think it would be awkward is because I hardly talk irl, even with friends. It's not because I don't like having a conversation (I really do like talking to people) I just never have anything to say. So unless they talked a lot or unless we've talked before over voice chats or something, the meeting would probably be filled with awkward silences.

I'm too shy to talk, so there probably wouldn't even be a conversation.

I am the exact same way unfortunately. I wouldn't go out of my way to meet anyone from the internet though since I'm more comfortable talking to people online than in person. Plus, who knows what kind of person you'd be meeting. They may seem nice online but you never really know a person until you know them irl.

It is this for this reason that I would want to voice chat and/or video chat a lot with the person before meeting them. People can be much different typing than they are when actually talking and when you can see their body language. I feel like you could get a better idea of how a person actually is when you can hear and see them.
