Ever have someone tell you an "unpopular" NH opinion that actually is popular?

I started laughing out loud. This was someone who was a beginner at the game and had no knowledge of tier lists. I try my best to explain, nicely, that he actually is pretty popular (besides the biased small video game news articles that hate him for some reason)

I dislike Raymond, AND Marshal. I just hate their designs. There is nothing interesting about either of them. I'd be simpin to get them off my island asap if they ever moved in lmao

Lol, no kidding. Some people love him because he's popular, some love him because they think he's cute (where I am). Some hate him because he's popular, some hate him because they think he's ugly. I think the least popular "opinion" on Raymond is not having any opinion at all.

And, honestly, I was surpised to see all the Pietro love on here when I first joined. I'm so used to see him being bashed in articles and stuff (frankly, I REALLY don't get clown phobias or hate at all, unless you have some trauma in your past that I don't need to know about). Personally, I like him, but I don't love him.

Originally, I thought hazel was unpopular, and i was proud of myself bc I chose to keep an unpopular villager UwU
But after browsing a thread on tbt about unpopular villagers, I saw so many posts about hazel. I'm happy that she's unpopularly popular!

It seems like a lot of time what people call ‘unpopular’ opinions are actually their controversial or polarizing opinions. Because those opinions cause strong reactions on both sides usually they are not actually unpopular at all (I’ve been guilty of this myself). I think pietro fits into this - there’s not a lot of moderate opinions about him, same as what someone pointed out about Raymond above (or at least you don’t hear about the no strong opinions people). With pietro I feel like people tend to either really love him or absolutely loathe him. There is a lot of hate against him. It is just balanced out by his super fans. (I hope that kind of makes sense?)

When someone has a truly unpopular opinion on the unpopular opinion threads it really stands out, and often it is a little uncomfortable, because it is like they are in a different world.

I don't recall being told false information, but I was under the impression people hated Pietro. Since the game's release date being announced, I recall seeing a lot of hate directed towards Pietro. People saying he was creepy or ugly. Both words that aren't positive. But maybe I'm wrong.

Or any popular villager, honestly. I've heard enough of "I hate Raymond/Judy/Sherb/etc." like lol we get it. I'm pretty sure the amount of people who like these charcters is just as much as the amount of people who dislike or don't care about them.

I feel like the only true unpopular opinions are those who have very unpopular villagers as dreamies. I'm talking gorillas or hippos like Hippeux or Harry. That's not something you see everyday.
