Events & Collectibles General Discussion

I was just curious about this but what happens if you buy a Ore month stone during the wrong month? (i.e. Garnet during February?)
Will you get reprimanded for it?

Also it's February now!
I bought a Sapphire in October before. And nothing happened other than a Sapphire having an October timestamp exists.

I'm not really much of a collectible collector you know? Even though I really want to.

It seems to be one of the things that is keeping this forums in an active state, but I haven't really racked enough TBT to buy much of anything worth making an actual good lineup for.

I do have a thread where I buy and sell collectibles, but I haven't used that since July.
And of course, I'd bring that back up, but I'm too lazy to do anything around here. So lazy that I do everything last minute, I adapted to that factor that I'm good at last minute things funny enough.

I mean, hopping on the collectible bandwagon is going to be hard, with how...
  • Expensive every collectible is.
  • Being sedimental on the collectibles I want to keep for future lineups.
  • Getting motivated to re-open my collectible shop, editing every time is a pain.
But I can say I would finally have enough collectibles that I'd know how to make lineups out of them. At least that part is easy... Believe me, I've seen amazing lineups everywhere, THAT got me motivated at least.

hey, there's many cheap collectibles

granted, "cheap" is subjective, but I don't think anyone would argue <1k is terribly expensive, even if the upper end of that may take a bit more dedication towards

Why are the glow wands so sought after? How did people originally obtain them??? I'm assuming they were hard to get when they first released?

They were first released during the 2016 TBT Fair. In contrary to what you said, they were actually unlimited stock during the 2016 Fair (except the Star Glow Wand, which had 30 in stock). The low participation rate due to ACNL’s falling popularity (due to age), combined with other collectibles for purchase and members active during 2016 becoming inactive is what made the glow wands rarer.

I think they’re more sought after because of their starry background and their light/glow theme.

Oh that's interesting- that they were unlimited stock during the 2016 Fair ... I thought that maybe they were only released with raffles or something - that's why they're more expensive.. but I see...

Believe it or not, it was more of a challenge for me to get an apple-only sidebar back in 2016 than it was to get all three glow wands at the time. I just needed to participate in the events to get more glow wands, but the apples, I spent like 700 TBT to 2,000 TBT per apple (and this was back when we had 6x2 sidebars). Nowadays, it’s easier to get a sidebar of all perfect apples than it is to get just one OG glow wand.

Oof that's kind of sad! How the marketplace has changed...
I'm assuming it was harder to get the apples cause of stock

honestly, inactivity was very much not a factor in 2016, imo

it's just a case of being a mix of consistently popular throughout their existence+old, without ever having a proper rerelease up until last year's fair. which means most of them are either with inactive accounts or with accounts that have no intention to part with them, due to a mix of scarcity and personal attachment to

as an addendum: not only were they generally not hard to get, but it was very realistically possible to obtain all three plus the fair patch with one's own event currency earnings, during their 2016 fair release period

I do wish that the cupid coin shop for Valentines week was extended since the Valentines party entries haven't seen evaluation yet.

Also bring back banana collectibles when? 😭

I may have missed it but do we know when we have to spend the Cupid coins by? I have been waiting to spend mine until after the party entries were accepted.

Two events I would like to see:
  • A culinary-themed event where most activities are on cooking. I would like to cook savory meals for the forum.
  • A past vs future event where some users are on Team Past and the others are on Team Future.

I don't even know until when we can spend cupid coins, but it's usually before the closing ceremony or results.

But for now, we have to wait until the staff goes back to accepting the entries.

I actually have a genuine question for those who are waiting for the remainder of their cupid coins and/or love tokens to be distributed. Is there any particular reason to holding back on spending the currency you currently have? :0

Raffle tickets, simple as.

Second, if we basically save up all the love tokens and cupid coins. We can actually have more options on what to buy in the event shop.

Oh! I've been buying raffle tickets too but I've just been buying them as I get my currency (I only held off when I was still buying sweetheart letters since I didn't want any raffle tickets sandwiched between the letters or anything else I bought lol). Is it just the organization of having all the raffle tickets bought at once and being all together in your inventory?

But ah I think I see what you mean here, you like to have all your currency on your account before spending from what I understand? I'm the type who just calculates in advance how much I'll have and spend accordingly since I like my collectibles spaced out if I can. But I can understand wanting to have all your currency before spending to be safe. 🤔

Yep, i don't really have much interest in the balloons that were offered so I decided to go all in on the raffles. 😅
